I’m surprised to hear Rempel doesn’t speak French well. She’s been in Ottawa a fair while now. Given that she just got married, she may be more interested in other things at the mo. Polievre is an excellent debater and bilingual but he’s not the most likeable kid on the block. Erin O’Toole? If Raitt is out, Ambrose would be the obvious choice. Conservatives have to distance themselves decisively from a religious values agenda if they want to win in Ontario cities.

Had to be done. Losing party unity like that, with the Bernier schism, after Harper spent so many years putting it together was a catastrophe. And doing so poorly in suburban Ontario after Doug Ford's huge win a year or so ago was unforgiveable, even moreso when a majority of the provinces have conservative premiers in office right now. Scheer was no where near as bad as a Kim Campbell or Joe Clark in terms of getting his ass kicked but there was no way they could win with him. Even if he really isn't weak the perception that he was is cemented in, and when that happens it's impossible to overcome that image. Onwards, upwards.

I rarely take issue with your posts, Thanos as we appear to be on the same page on most issues. However, I do take issue with your comments about Kim Campbell. IMHO, she never had a chance and was thrown into the fray once it was more than apparent that Mulroney was so hated he would never win another election. Unfortunately, it was Kim who reaped the whirl wind of that hate. Just saying.

Too bad Michelle Rempel can't speak French. She has more balls than all the males in the CP caucus combined and she'd be about the only one for whom I would have any enthusiasm.

As much as I like Michelle, if Rona Ambrose can be persuaded to run, she will get my vote. Besides being an intelligent, well-spoken person she has the respect of all parties in the HOC. She more than proved to be an effective interim Leader of the Opposition and would be a great choice for our party.
