Doing so creates a power source for local communities, while capturing airborne toxins, limiting toxic runoff, and significantly reducing the volume of waste.

Good public policy should address a real problem and should make a meaningful impact on the said problem. Unfortunately, Trudeau’s proposed single-use plastics ban would have little to no impact on overall ocean waste, while promoting high-impact alternatives, and inflating costs for consumers. All three of these factored together create a fairly toxic policy mix.

Why didn’t you share the link for that quote?

The plastics/petrochemical industry is eager for any solution on the discharge end of the plastic pipeline but don’t want any on the input end because that hurts their bottom line.

I've pretty much eliminated the one-use plastic in my life except for a few things they still package in it at the grocery store. As soon as I finish the Saran Wrap I have, I'm not buying any more. What I have though is a big box of the stuff I bought at Cosco about 20 years ago... I don't think I'll ever use it all.
