Thing is, another rule says that no matter what you say or do, somebody will be insulted/triggered/outraged.

No. We'll look at it, and perhaps discuss it. But we'll do nothing unless it's a clear violation of the rules - like spam, or name calling. If a post simply pisses us off, we'll keep an eye out, but do nothing unless it also pisses someone who is not a moderator off and they report it.

There are grey areas, of course. But that is the rule we've agreed upon in general. We try to remove our own biases from the process.

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't post my response to the post that was edited. Mine was in clear violation but was along the same kind of post. Self censorship and or sharing it with someone in a PM is the surest way to NOT have something deleted/edited. Just saying.
