There's a big difference between saying:
“You know, I really believe you don't know until you test it, but I think I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon,”
and doing it.
It's to bad that the President has allowed his mouth to write a cheque he'll never have to cash. Everybody wants to believe they'll do the courageous thing in times of crisis, even Presidents. But reality is that given the chance to think their actions through, most people wouldn't consider doing anything as foolhardy as that.
Trust me. It's when you don't have the time to think before you act that you do the most incredibly stupid things that are misconstrued as bravery.
