Strutz was making the point that charity starts at home. A fact that is completely lost on Trudeau.

No, but all the blockheads who think supporting one thing means taking away from another think that way.
And as someone in the fire zone how dare you consider the assistance as charity like money for food to Sudan?

You mean, it isn't ?

So, if we spend money on foreigners, we can still spend more domestically,
and it's ok ?

Money is infinite ?

Wow, what a financial wizard you are !!

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Let's see...Canada imported a bunch of people from Afghanistan and now you have an opioid crisis.

Hmmm. This is a tough one. 8)

Are you for real?

Opioid as in prescription drugs like Oxycontin and Fentanyl dummy. Where have you been?

Also we "imported a bunch of people from Afghanistan?" Huh?

Governments pour $60 million into Diversity Gardens project at Assiniboine Park

By Sean Leslie
Reporter Global News
July 29, 2017 12:59 pm

WINNIPEG — The federal and provincial governments, along with the city of Winnipeg, will provide $60 million to build Canada’s Diversity Gardens in Assiniboine Park.

The Gardens will be built in the southeast corner of Assiniboine Park and are meant to celebrate the world’s cultural and bio-diversity.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Ottawa will contribute $35 million to the project at a news conference in the park on Saturday.

The province will commit $15 million while the city will provide $10 million.

Private sector donations totaling $10 million will also go towards the project.

“Today marks a true milestone in the redevelopment of Assiniboine Park. It’s through the critical support from all three levels of government that we are able to proceed with building Canada’s Diversity Gardens. We can’t thank them enough for their support of this magnificent project,” said Margaret Redmond, Assiniboine Park Conservancy President & CEO, in a news release.

The Gardens are meant to be a tourist attraction and will host students for environmental education programs.

Sorry to bark, but the charity thing came off as a little insulting.
There's disruption but everyone has food, clothing, shelter, medical services, etc. I really don't know what more money can do at this point. When it's over people who've lost homes and businesses could be addressed, that's when $$ will be needed.

Interesting point: Home sales are SCREWED... they will not, in any case, no, no, no... insure homes, properties, improvements at this point outside the mainland. You can renew your home insurance but not increase it, won't get any new policies. Couple local deals I know have fallen through and my friend couldn't increase hers for the improvements she just completed. Luckily, I increased mine in April.
Several sales lately were to mainlanders moving up here. They used "spare change" from sale of homes down there and have no mortgage to insure but their $250K homes will have no insurance until this settles down. Alberta last year, BC this year, everyone should prepare for the coming home insurance gougearama.

There's not a shortage of wildfire relief money caused by government spending on other programs.

Full stop.

Sure there is. According to Mr Obnoxious there's homeless veterans on the street because they've wasted $178 million just saving some trees. Could've cut his taxes $7
