Not that it is relevant but have work side by side with the Gurkhas a couple of times. I also have two Khukri Knifes that were given to me as gifts for working with them.
Anywho - I have no problem if the Government was to set up a memorial fund for the fallen but to say the government is financially responsible is wrong but media likes to spin things.
As for the contract that can be obtained through a simple ATI request. I would be hesitant with any form of Canadian Compensation due to the precedence it would set. We have multiple contracts in multiple countries from experience you pay one then they all come running.
In the end Sabre is financially responsible for their employee's but as private security is a quick money making cut throat industry it does not surprise me that they threw the guards to the wind.Funny I looked up Sabre and only 15 full time employees in Kabul and I bet they have nice pay checks.
