They put on a 4c tax and the price goes up 10c and you fucking whine about the tax and completely ignore the money they're pocketing collecting that tax. Not just now, but every time they do that.

I got it. The price jumped from .89, to .92. to .98 right before the holidays. Some nonsense about maintenance at a plant in Illinois. Then just before the New Year it broke $1. Now it 1.09 at most places. Pretty good for a 4 cent carbon tax!

I bet those people in line feel better about the $4 they saved on that tankful.

People delude themselves. When I had the computer shop here many people insisted they saved money by driving 175km to Prince George, dropping off their computer, paying higher prices for repairs and going back to pick it up a week later.
I did an online poll on the town website five years ago "How much does gas cost you to drive to Prince George and back" and the biggest response was $10.00. For a 350Km trip when 2/3 of the town drives an F150 or F250 4x4.
The sane ones would tell me it was cheaper to pay me to fix it than to drive to the Big Box and get it fixed under warranty.
I also live where people drive 110km round trip to save A PENNY a litre on gas. But most of those that do, do it because the Band owns the 2 stations in town.
