Given our trade deficit if they shut the door on us we're gonna be in a world of hurt. 8O

Yet, not nearly as hurt as the US, which is what everybody seems to forget.

At best, they will "renegotiate" parts of NAFTA, and not nearly to as much benefit as Trump thinks he will get. This is stated assuming that his campaign promise of rewriting all trade deals to the exclusive benefit of the US was accurate.

And this headline shows the exact reason one Mr. Trudeau extended an olive branch to one Mr. Trump.

Indeed. It's unfortunate that some of us have to choose principle and truth over national pride. I will do my part to make his administration aware of some of our underhanded tactics that police in Canada engage in.

As I often do, I will make the appropriate politicians and security agencies aware as well. Abuses of authority against citizens and businesses comes at a cost, a cost they will eventually bare when the economy goes into the tank due to lack of interest in our workforce.

Indeed. That said, if the door does end up being closed on us, slammed shut or slowly over 4-8 years, it could give us the impetus we need to pursue trade relationships with NZ, Australia, and the UK. These are relationships we should have established, but don't for some reason or another... Really we should be looking into a CANZUK trade bloc regardless of which direction NAFTA goes.

Canada should be looking at trade deals with all comparable districts, always. Be they Commonwealth, Japan or Europe. The fact is though that no economy consumes as America does, nor is as conveniently located. We have been blessed with out location, too bad we refused to incorporate the elements of their constitution that could have really helped spark a more dynamic and innovative society.

Seriously, why don't you move there and see how well their security apparatus will treat you? I'm no patriot but I don't see a point on shitting on Canada all day every day. Especially since you clearly think the grass is greener down there, why not see for yourself?

Down where, the United States? I'm not running from Canadian bullies, I am blowing the whistle on them and facing them head on. Decided it's better to courageously face off against cowards rather than run from them. I can provide far better value to American businesses by spreading facts to these businesses before they get burned too.

Canadian apparatus stabbing American businesses n the back while smiling in their faces and spreading false pretenses to the world that Canada is "open for business" is the ultimate insult to law loving nations and capitalism.

Be more polite if you found a different website to do this on instead of annoying the fuck out of people here, most of whom have expressed a clear annoyance with your crusade/mania.

That wasn't true when Chretien called bush a moron and it's not true now. "slamming the door " on $2Bn of daily cross border trade would seriy hurt alot of American businesses, workers and consumers too. Even a fragile ego man-baby like Trump wouldn't do that just because someone hurt his delicate feelings. Nor would anyone allow him to.

Besides I don't believe the President has that kind of unilateral power.

The one and only reason for the cordiality on Trudeaus part is because that is the tradition in Canada-US relationship and while Trump supporters might have forgotten what words like "dignified" and "classy" mean, the rest of the world hasn't.

Oh I am polite, it could be alot worse for some. Maybe you should consider how important certain values are to a democracy, especially one day before Remembrance Day.

You using words like classy and dignified is fucking hilarious, or have you already forgot saying ALL Republicans are racist. [laughat]

I do not think that Mr. Trump's NAFTA beef is with Canada. Some American jobs have been lost to Canada. When I was living in Mass I had a friend that worked at the Osram Sylvania plant in Danvers Mass. The production line was closed and moved to Drummondville Quebec. Needless to say he was not very happy. For the most part American and Canadian factories are moving to Mexico. They only pay a few dollars an hour there. No American or Canadian could live on that type of money. I've been told (second hand hearsay mind you) that the environmental regulations concerning these plants are almost non existent. If someone should spill thousands of gallons of toxic waste and it should run into the local river, no one really gives a shit. Mordida is very much a way of life there. A few dollars can make any problem disappear, if in fact it ever was a problem in the first place. These companies get to ship American and Canadian jobs to Mexico. They pay a couple dollars an hour to build their products. They get to ship their products back to the states and Canada duty free thanks to NAFTA. They then sell those products at the same price they were getting when Americans and Canadians were building them earning a decent wage. There is no discount whatsoever. We Americans and Canadians lose good paying jobs, and tax revenue. The multi national companies balance sheet skyrockets. They also get off on the cheap with any toxic waste disposable problems that they may have. Who needs companies like clean harbors when you have a tributary in your back yard, and a government on the take? If Mr. Trudeau plays his cards right there is no reason why the renegotiation of NAFTA cannot be a windfall for Canada as well as the U.S.

You have a right to say it. I have no obligation to listen to it. I started multiple omnibus threads in order to keep the board from getting cluttered with too many separate threads that are essentially about the same thing. I still see no reason why you can't at least do the same thing with your grudge against Canada as opposed to doing the same thing over and over again multiple times per day.

Just pass over my name then and don't read the news I post. I won't be offended, I promise. Once you experience the type of harm that I have you would understand. Worse, it has impacted our reputation, I'm not one to bluff or exaggerate.

Well, never say that I didn't offer the suggestion a couple of times to help you. If you want to go on pissing off almost everyone on this forum from both the right and the left then it's your choice to do so.
