Did they drink at least? How did your fellow youth inhibit and degrade their potential? The horror, the boredom!

Of course I drank, but it wasn't that big of a deal for me. I'd been having wine at family meals for years and my dad would give me a beer every once in a while. Probably why booze still isn't much of a deal for me. I enjoy it, but it's a 1 drink thing.

Thanos Thanos:
I like the part when those who wanted legalization the most have to sign off on a legal age-limit even though they're all people who started imbibing when they were in junior high and considerably under the recommended age that legalization advocates are suggesting.

It's so funny when it happens to you. How's that all cobbywebby and thoroughly hypocritical "do as I say not as I do" feeling working out for you, gramps?

So you never touched booze, cigs, pot or anything else while you were under age?

I love being here. You guys make me feel so young.

Witness me squander it by arguing with old men on the internet daily.

I'm used to it, my job friends are pretty much all young... a few in their early 20s.

And then some. But at least I never wrapped myself in the flag of the Ultimate Rebel the way you 420 types love to do. You guys are in love more with the silly faux-rebel image that you think makes you "cool" than you are with getting high. And now you have to surrender to AUTHORTITY! to get what you want from the government. It's getting funnier with every passing second.

He's not in favour of legalization so he's exempt from his example I think

Does that even make sense? So if he did partake before legal age, he's recommending that kids continue to do that?

So you're reduced to slinging bullshit? You did it, but that's OK, I did it but I'm a hypocrite? Maybe you've done it a bit too much?

I was worried this was some sort of Disney-esque horror show where the youth just drank sodapop and milkshakes while boot-skoot-and-boogying and had no escape from the torment that must have been their existences, what with actual human interaction and a lack of numbing instant gratification.

Went to school, worked in a movie theatre 4 nights a week, spent time with my friends... actual human interaction was pretty much all I did... and starting age 15, I don't think I went a couple of weeks without a GF.

Actually I am. Everyone should be high or drunk all the time just to get through this miserable world. I just loved poking holes in the nonsense that legalization was going to make the troubles with organized crime go away. And the holier-than-thou cloak nonsense the entire "scene" had wrapped around itself. If you guys had stuck with a simple argument based on rights/freedom of choice and the medical science that clearly shows pot is really quite un-dangerous then I wouldn't have said a thing, because you would have been correct on both counts. But no, you all had to go make yourselves into some kind of sacred victims being oppressed by Teh Man and make up crap about how crime would be negated, like criminals aren't quite cunning and well-diversified in their undertakings. Legalize and they'll just find something else to make illegal money off of (e.g. the brand-new and incredibly lethal fentanyl epidemic), for a net reduction of zero when it comes to overall crime. That was the commentary that pissed me off because it was all so counter to basic social and legal reality.

He just doesn't like us, views us as trash, and is arguing for argument's sake.

He likely doesn't care either way how this issue ends, he just wants to make sure we know he thinks we're stupid regardless. He's not advocating anything about the kids or what not. Doesn't matter.

I like you plenty. You just need to have your assumptions and utopian thoughts get punctured every once in a while. Don't take it personally. It's good for you because there's nothing like reality to make you grow up some.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:

I just hope they let people grow in their own homes.

The kids will still smoke anyway, silly impotent law be damned :)

Well with the supreme court decision about medical marijuana to grow at home, it will be hard for them to then say you can't do it for recreational pot. The whole medical/recreational divide is going to be hard to get right - should there even be one?

I'm worried that the govt will make the new laws too restrictive, get too much pushback and there won't be general buy in for the new laws. They can't make the age too young, because it will freak too many people out, but they need to also make the laws fairly relaxed. Otherwise we'll have this gray area where there are still lots of people breaking the new laws. Colorado seems to have gotten it about right.
