One has to wonder how effective the surveillance was, and if the RCMP could have stopped him if they hadn't been tipped off by the FBI?

I think it shows that the system works. They still knew what he was up to, and they took action when needed.

There might be one person who disagrees with you and wishes they had done something sooner.

" RCMP told the man's family that Driver was shot after he detonated a device that wounded himself and one other person. The identity of the other person isn't clear. "

At least that person is alive to be able to wish that.

I'll go for acolyte, and nothing to worry about.

There was a moment in Tim Burton's Batman when Jack Nicholson just stood there and giggled with his eyes rolling in opposite directions. I have to do the same thing now to get me through the day in this idiot world now.

Yes he/she is but might not have wanted to even been hurt, but hey Driver had every right to go around with his support for terror up and until he blew himself up and harmed this person.

The other person injured was the taxi driver who picked Driver up. Minor injuries.

For those arguing that he should have been imprisoned just for voicing support for ISIS, be careful for what you wish for. There are people on this forum who would be caught up in laws like that, for advocating violence against Muslims. It's exactly what ISIS is hoping for, to have the west enact more and more repressive laws.

Any indication from the Taxi driver where he was taking him? Would be interesting to know if that was someplace likely to be his target.

Transit was warned of a possible imminent attack, so that would be my guess. Looks like Driver, since he was acting alone, didn't have access to much of an explosive, if, in the confines of a taxi, it didn't kill him or the driver.

Without the info from the FBI, this attack would have been successful.

Thankfully the FBI focuses on legitimate threats and they take their oaths seriously. In stark contrast to the the rabbit chasing, threat manufacturersof, ally back stabbing of the OPP and RCMP.

To the uniformed officers who responded and took out the obvious threat, I tip my hat to your efforts.

To those Canadian agents tasked with collecting intelligence and identifying real threats, please find a new line of work.

Looks like the FBI picked up Driver's ISIS affirmation video.

Meanwhile, the RCMP had an ankle bracelet on our jihadi, but they took it off.

Forget the bracelet. How about de-radicalizing, ensure he has access to employment and can normalize his life. Some you cannot save, but none of these radicals will see the light if they don't hate hope or have a normal existence. They will blow themselves up out of their radical views AND their despair. This isn't just my view, it is from CIA analysts when commenting on other terrorists.

If he didn't commit a crime, he can't be arrested. He can be watched. He CAN be arrested if he is trying to radicalize others and encouraging violence.
