He did not join Islam. I think this was more likely a revenge attack against minorities. He is a German Born citizen with blonde hair and blue eyes of Christian decent. He is a carpenter who has been out of work for 2 years and was collecting Employment benefits. He was completely broke and could not afford to stay at a hotel in Munich the night before. He has a history of mental health issues. He is from a very white community that had a number of Somali Pro-Immigrant demonstrations earlier in the year.


He likely blames immigrants for his woes. He snapped and wanted revenge on immigrants for his situation. He searched out immigrants in Munich, the most ethnically diverse city in Germany. He went on a stabbing rampage and yelled "Allahu Akbar" to get even with them for his situation by "fighting fire with fire."

He is not a Muslim convert. He has never been to a Mosque. He hates Muslims.

Pretty cool story. But it seems more likely to me that he's not thinking that logically or strategically. Stabbings are in the news, he's probably just picking that up and acting out. Ie he's using the words he's heard others use who act out, fleshing out the inchoate psychic storm he's experiencing. Maybe he converted, but just as likely he didn't. If witches were in the news, he'd be killing them.
