andyt andyt: LSD was OK until the CIA got a hold of it. That where the doctor in the NatGeo documentary was superior. He made his own 'ultra pure' stuff, so that the dosage could be controlled better. I bet the CIA doesn't like the competition. But I'm with Thanos, I'd never buy street drugs nowadays. You'd never be able to trust that there was any sort of 'quality' behind them. Too easy to contaminate things with rat poison or fentanyl, or brew a batch with not enough heat and you end up killing half your customers. Whisky and . . .well, I quit smoking. So, just whisky. For now.

Absolutely don't buy street drugs. When I was doing it, there were still some crusaders around putting out the real stuff, but already it was often also mixed with everything from arsenic (supposedly) to speed, to who knows what. Even weed, these days, they say who knows what it's mixed with. We once did some crap that had just been sprayed with DMT - so a quick intense high as you took a toke, then nothing.
Booze in moderation is a much better bet, but as we know, it can have its own problems.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: andyt andyt: LSD was OK until the CIA got a hold of it. I bet the CIA doesn't like the competition. I would guess they're long out of it. But MK Ultra and Dr. Cameron sure introduced a bummer into the space. And they unleashed Kesey, which I probably would have thought cool at the time, but seems like too much of a freak show now. Probably responsible for a lot of freak outs.

The last fucking thing I need is an enhanced perception of reality. As if reality isn't bad enough already.

Some of the therapy included being dosed with LSD while undergoing sensory deprivation. With the external world muzzled the patient could concentrate riding out the PTSD with the help of the drug. Apparently the initial results were incredibly promising with some of the patients experiencing massive reductions in the stress that was pretty much killing them.

It's an altered perception. There is only one reality, you just get to see a bit more of it.
I would say you're a lousy candidate for doing acid, except it seems to help all those soldiers with PTSD, so who knows. Maybe you'd even come to like reality, give up the paranoia. "I am you as you are me and we are all together." Stranger things have happened.

No flashbacks and no handholding needed. For best results apply liberally.

Booze in moderation is a much better bet, but as we know, it can have its own problems. The only weed I'd smoke is stuff I'd grow myself, with stuff I'd get from that Vancouver Seed broker place. Or, so I've heard. And I don't drink to get high anymore. Along the way, I discovered the taste, and that's all I go for. ![Drool [drool]](./images/smilies/droolies.GIF) Once I've had enough that it stops tasting incredible, I stop.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: Once I've had enough that it stops tasting incredible, I stop. Lucky you. So many people can't seem to manage to do that, have never understood why. I gave up drinking because I lost the taste for it. (Too bad, because there's nothing as refreshing on a hot summer's day as an ice cold beer.) The other part is I don't like anything that affects my mind anymore. Same with pot - it's kinda fun to do, but the part of mind mind that doesn't get high doesn't think it's much fun at all, just silly.

I wonder what it would do to a severely autistic person. Just wondering, not gonna try. TGIFF! ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

Although it would be interesting, since autism seems to almost be the conventional brain on steroids, ie compartmentalization, so acid might be just the ticket. Just have somebody stand by with the benzodiazepines.

Bump, for interesting article on MRI results of those beyond lucky guinea pigs that be a-trippin'. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... xious.htmlEnjoy it while you can, researchers who are trying to make the human experience boundless and better. Assuredly there's someone with a bible and a "won't someone think of the children?!?!?!?" bumper sticker on their mom-van trying to get the politicians to agree to their request to take more of the fun out of life. Oh, well, there's this song too. It's fun enough on heavy bass and lots of alcohol so I only imagine how great it would be with the brain roaring away on psychedelics. Gotta be brave though when you do it. There is always a chance of an encounter with one of the Outer Beings and those meetings don't always go so well. You could come back like this, but it's still worth the risk.

the other article says large doses, this one says 75 mics. Last I was doing it in the early 70's, the talk was that the hits being sold were up to 1000 mics. Some people were big on how many mics they could handle, which was of course pretty stupid. Now those are street drugs, so who knows what the truth is. These guys tho https://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_dose.shtml call 75 mics a mild dose. Interesting that these are micrograms - LSD is one of the most powerful drugs known as far as effective does is.
