There is no spinning. It cannot be defined as war. Plain and simple. End of story. If you want to grant them state status they we could possibly declare war until then it is completely impossible by the textbook definition. Google it people.

This is our Cold War against ISIS and Terrorism since 9/11. Behind the scenes there will be victory and defeat we will never hear of just like it was with the Cold War against the USSR.

OK, so everyone is pissed that Trudeau didn't take time to unilaterally redefine Canada's definition of war. I would actually be pissed if he did, unless he declared war on allergy season, because that is something we actually need..

Well, when Canada eventually suffers a similar attack as what happened in Belgium then don't cry when other countries turn around and rebuff Canada's pleas for help by saying, "Sorry, chum, but according to your own definition you're not at war so our Article Five obligations don't apply. We'll be sure to put your flag on our Facebook page but that's about it."

Right but our commitment to the region is well documented. We have taken in lots of refugees, helped militarily, and financially. Any country who thinks they need to invoke an article is mistaken since we have already made major multi-year commitments to the region so it really is just a semantic argument that you are on the wrong side of.

You see none of those things are actually war. Words matter, lets keep it that way.

So when ISIS says "We are coming and we will destroy you. . ." they didn't declare war on us? I guess it's OK then if we ignore their declaration. I'm sure they'll understand.

You don't get it, do you? Belgium is a NATO partner for Canada and they've just been attacked and what this shitheads response? "We're not at war with ISIS."

I don't think either of us wants to know how this is being received in Belgium or in the rest of Europe.

JT is going to be the most gaffe-prone PM we've ever had, maybe even worse than Chretien was. The filter between his mouth and his brain apparently doesn't work very well at all.

I don't care what anyone says, Chretien was entertaining. Trudeau, needs to realize while we think we not at war with ISIS. ISIS is at war with us.

I was watching a documentary today about the 'das Reich' and I thought to myself that the Nazi's were totally evil. They Invaded nations, wiped villages from the map after they slaughtered all the citizens and deported the jews, gypsies, communists, homosexuals, persons with disabilities and others that didn't fit the image of the ideal 'Aryan'. For this the World rose up, united, battled and defeated the Nazi's, albeit at great cost to many in Europe.

Fast forward 70 years and here we have a group that has Invaded nations, wiped villages from the map after they slaughtered all the citizens that didn't fit the image of the ideal 'Muslim'.

What the fuck has happened to us? What happened to standing up to evil?

I'm fairly liberal, but I see the evil ISIS commits and I watch the west cower in fear/terror, and I think to myself what happened to the resolve that we once had, as Churchill once said,

'the time for half measures is over, now we live in a time of consequence'

For shame.

“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

Google it I did and I'm sorry to say that the Merriam Webster Dictionary begs to differ.

Simple Definition of war
: a state or period of fighting between countries or groups
: a situation in which people or groups compete with or fight against each other
: an organized effort by a government or other large organization to stop or defeat something that is viewed as dangerous or bad

Full Definition of war
1
a (1) : a state of usually open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations (2) : a period of such armed conflict (3) : state of war
b : the art or science of warfare
c (1) obsolete : weapons and equipment for war (2) archaic : soldiers armed and equipped for war
2
a : a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism
b : a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end <a class war> <a war against disease>

So you can keep trying to defend Trudeau all you want because, if you'd have asked him rather than some random person on the internet to Google the term war, you'd both likely have learned that it is not exclusively an activity defined by nation status.

Probably not to well especially since they've had their doubts about us and our policies since the debacle in Rwanda.

Meanwhile, in Poland, braver people than Trudeau have told the EU to go fuck itself and they've canceled plans to accept 7,000 Muslim rapists, conquerors, and terrorists into their country!

Go Poland!!! R=UP

Trudeau definitely isn't the brains of the operation. If you want to know who's really running the country just take a look at his chief advisor and the decision maker he hired. ROTFL

Ok your definition of war accurately describes every sporting event that has occured as a "war".
$1:
a situation in which people or groups compete with or fight against each other

And although I have had some situations in which i competed with others like a chess match or arm wrestle, i would not describe myself as "war tested".

War can certainly occur between groups whom are not both nation states, like a civil war for example, but if you are trying to say that Canada is currently in a state of war when no declaration has been made, you are wrong.
We are not at war with the mafia, the drug cartels, the kkk, obesity or any other non nation-state because no declaration has been made. Some video by some chump doesnt constitute a formal declaration of war. Ie we are very committed to an extremely important conflict but Canada is not in a state of war.

Keep telling yourself that when your family is sprayed all over a Canadian Tire and some bunch in Syria takes credit for their murders.
