While I didn't care much for his politics or his addiction problems, it always sucks when someone's life is cut short.

RIP Rob.

Don Cherry:
1) I don’t know, maybe it’s me, when I hear these media types go on and on and on about what a great guy Rob Ford was now that he’s dead

2) I wonder, where were these people when Rob needed them when the lefties were piling on him. Rob’s whole life was for helping people.

3) Sure he had his faults, don’t we all? No public servant was hounded thru life like Rob. Reporters spying over his fence, police with

4) helicopters following him, people in TV popping up to accost him as he entered his house, the list goes on. Rob dedicated his life to.

5) inner city kids to have a life with football to help them. He spent thousands of his own money to help them and hours and hours to coach

6) them. And when he tried to raise money for the football teams and the kids they took him to court cause of the letterhead. They took away

7) from him the kids he loved and his coaching job so he went into a state of depression. How about the media, playing up every mistake he

8 ) ever made. Even when he fell down throwing the football, they must have shown that a hundred times. What got me, they reported this stuff

9) with glee. It’s the old story, they reported the plane crash with a gleam in their eye. The left wing kooks had a field day, they showed

10) no mercy. Rob helped hundreds of people nobody knows about. I remember when I went to city council, to put the mayor’s chain of office

11) around Rob’s neck, when he became mayor, I couldn’t believe the hate towards Rob from those left wing kooks. He was the people’s mayor

12) and a great guy. Rob had a lot of friends and I know we all send our thoughts to his kids, wife, mom and Doug. Rest in peace Rob.

Just like many politicians he did things that were good and positive for the people who elected him as well as things that drew much negative attention.

He will certainly always be remembered.

RIP

Oh give me a break Cherry. Don't complain that in death, the public is treating him with the respect and dignity that he couldn't attain in life.

The real aim of posts like this is to bait someone from "the pinko left" into defending criticism of Ford's record, so that Cherry and his followers can then fake moral outrage over evil liberals speaking ill of the dead. It's a trap.

Cherry exposed the Left's hypocrisy on Rob Ford's death.

Who is this "left" you and Cherry speak of? Surely you must be able to give us the name of at least one person who's behaving as you and Cherry claim. One, surely.

It's not hypocrisy to show someone respect in death. I mean, would you prefer that we react to his death by continuing to criticize and condemn him for the things he did back when he was mayor? I bet you'd shit your pants in anger if we did that. So there's no pleasing you it seems.

Or let me put this another way, think of all the current liberal leaders you despise and spit on so often, how will you treat them when they die? Spit on their grave and be accused of being disrespectful, or allow them their final respects and be called a hypocrite?

FWIW, I'm guessing you'll do the former

Don't show anyone respect in death that you wouldn't show them when they were alive.

In this case, those who had no respect for Rob while he was alive should spare us the political correct condolences and keep their hollow comments to themselves.

So you'll be pissing on Kathleen Wynne's grave then.

That's the problem with your right wingers and your "total war" approach to the world. People who think the way you do are responsible for most of the evil in the world.

I'm capable of despising a person's politics and even their behaviour but still having sympathy and respect when they die tragically. Even though I loathed his politics, his persona and just about everything he stood for, I wouldn't shrug if his children drowned in the Mediterranean or were covered in open sores from living in a squalid Reservation or killed in an errant Drone strike. And I didn't shrug when I heard he died at an early age from a painful cancer. Why? Because I'm not like you, I'm a better person than that.

No, I'm not going to pretend to like or respect someone after they're dead with useless platitudes. Sympathy for her and her loved ones is a given.

Right.

I would think people like you, who make such stupid statements, would be the cause of far more evil than someone pretending to respect someone after they've passed.

Rob Ford's politics are at the core of his being.

If you despise his politics, you despise him. Our political beliefs are tied directly to our own beliefs so if you don't like what Rob stands for as a Mayor, you sure as hell don't like what he stands for as a person.

No need to pretend you're some better person because you spout off some useless politically correct garbage. Time to get off your high horse.

With the way you have behaved in this thread, you sure have a funny way of showing it.

Ah yes, not giving a crap when someone dies and saying nothing is the exact same thing as pissing on their grave.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You can actually say that with a straight face after your previously quoted comment?
