...or like a car, mandatory insurance for dog owners covering all damages/injuries they could cause.

I don't know how stupid or smart of an idea that is. [huh]

I like it. Except the pukes would just ignore it, the cops wouldn't go around checking for it, and when the dog does attack, pukeface will say "sue me, I ain't got shit (legally anyway.)" Then he'd beat up his woman and kids because it's all their fault. As far as I'm concerned, pitt bulls are for losers. No reason to have one when there are so many much better breeds. (I guess this is racist again, Caleb?)

Well, if you like to run with the muscle shirt crowd, go ahead. Sounds like hillbilly hell to me.

For me, if I wanted a dog for protection or fighting, I'd get a pit bull because that's what they were bred for. Since neither of those interest me, I'd get a better breed for my needs. It's like guns, if I hunted or felt I needed protection, I'd get a gun... but since I don't, no gun for me. If I wanted one just for target practice, I'd probably get a bow.

I think there are better dogs for protection that are less likely to go snaky but are still guarding oriented. German Shepherds, say.

Top 10 Guard Dogs For Families
German Shepherd
Rottweiler
Bullmastiff
Doberman Pincher
Great Dane
Boxer
Fila Brasileiros
Bernese Mountain Dog
Great Pyrenees
Saint Bernard

German Shepherds, in our opinion, top the list of best family guard dogs due to their natural instincts to listen, learn, and obey. They are both menacing in their appearance, and loving in their nature, but will respond to a command on any moments notice. They have thick fur, which makes them respond well to colder temperatures, and it adds to their toughness. They are very understanding of their homes, and will be wary of intruders. They have fantastic size and can take down any sized human without much trouble.

Seems to me that's all you need unless you are a biker/drug dealer or other skanky type. I would get a mix tho, to prevent inbreeding problems.

A dog seems like a better choice for protection than a gun, because a gun can get you in legal trouble real fast. If you don't feel safe where you live - move. As for trucks, if you need one fine. So many pickups seem to be driven by one guy, all shiny and never see any work, are just being used as another dick extender.

The half of pit bull owners you never see pleading on posters. Invisible to media, like native Indians on beer commercials.
But every other time you see a pit bull, there's the owner out there in -10 in Dayton boots, black T-shirt (Players Plain rolled in the sleeve), also owner of the last tube of Brylcreem on the planet to keep the ducktail in place... or maybe even a female owner who needs protection jogging down to the crack shack, dog frothing and straining on a chain, too stunned to realize all she needs to do is lower the hoodie and people will run screaming from the pustules and meth scabs all over her face...
I'm a liberal too - I never stereotype people... I just live near Prince George hahahahahahaaa.....

Truthfully, best friends own FOUR pitbull/crosses. Nicest dogs in the world, but I would never even think of hitting my friend even in jest, entering their house when they're not around or bringing my Pomeranian when I visit.
I have no doubt they would not be the same dogs if I did. I've owned shepherds, they say you're 10x as likely to be bitten by one, but they NIP or they're trained to pin you. Never even read about anyone savaged like that.
There was another attack in Richmond yesterday pitbull went after a woman shielding her 3 yr old.

I look askance at those who own toy breeds as much as those who own pitbulls. A Jack Russell is the only small dog I would ever contemplate owning.

I would make a list of breeds presumed to be dangerous tho, ie they don't get one bite before they are deemed dangerous. Just compile stats of what breeds cause the most damage (we know what the prime suspects will be) and have them on the list.

You know, if you said that regarding people, you'd be accused of racism.

What kind of comment is this?

The truth. If someone said "well, you just can't trust their kind. They are prone to violence." And they were speaking of black people, it no more applies to black people that it does dogs.

They weren't bred for fighting. They were bred to hunt bears and buffalo.
