Death is a messy business. That's why I do my best to avoid it.

I'll throw another quote from Thanos' source:

"As often as Herman had witnessed the slaughter of animals and fish, he always had the same thought: in their behaviour toward creatures, all men were Nazis. The smugness with which man could do with other species as he pleased exemplified the most extreme racist theories, the principle that might is right. "

Don't think the Nazis were butchering Jews and Gypsies for food. Trophy hunting is more comparable.

The overall point Singer was trying to make was that a specie which had industrialized the mass killing of animals with an horrific assembly-line process would have no problem at all in adapting the same efficiency towards the mass killing of humans. He actually got quite a bit of grief from his fellow Jews with this kind of linking of indifference to destroying animal life to indifference to destroying human life.

Well the Nazis thought exterminating the Jews was a necessity for survival. So the comparison is especially apt given that the author is vegetarian so rightly claims that we eat animals for pleasure not necessity.

Yup, because we all know that eating anything else is no pleasure.

Tell me again why anybody chooses to be vegetarian. :?

All humans are Inuit now?

Also I don't think the author would have let the Inuit off the hook. Just because their ancestors moved to the arctic to live off a 100% meat diet ( which the author thinks is immoral) doesn't mean they have to keep doing it.

It's merely his opinion. Most vegetarians are a little 'off' anyways. And yeah, the Inuit intentionally moved to the Arctic to avoid eating veggies....ok. Sorry, but the protein rich diet of natives has been shown to be much healthier than either our processed meat diet or one that highly restricts consumption of animal protein.

As you say it's his opinion, I'm no vegetarian. I'm sure he felt that he was healthy. We certainly do overconsume meat at any rate.
