martin14 martin14:
The current wave of illegals entering Europe.. very few are coming as family units.

Very, very few.

But it doesn't mean we have to accept them. This one was a family, and we dropped the ball. And we have to watch that heartbreaking video of his little body washing up on shore.

I would think that any military aged man in Syria that wants to fight is able to go to the local checkpoint and they'll give him a gun and a direction to shoot it. The ones that don't want to fight, leave by any means necessary.

That's what all the 'great purges' involve, whether it was out West to the Americas, people fleeing Communism in the 30's and 50's, or one day - out into space. The best and brightest see the coming doom, and GTFO. The remaining ones are diminished, and the ones that left represent the best of those they left behind.

'The cream rises', as it were.

.....or in Australia's case .....it became a dumping ground for the unwanted riff raff, which could also be the path of space colonization.

Stop it, please. You're falling right into the trap set by the MSM;

Let's all go crazy over the death one Syrian kid.

We didn't drop the ball. The father did, by putting his family into a shit boat.

This is not Canada's fault, and to think otherwise is just stupid.

How many 3 - 4 year old kids died in Canada today, and why aren't they on tv ?

I never said it was our fault, I said we played a part in it. I'm not going crazy over one kid, I'm saying he's just one example of thousands. He's just the best documented.

I'll be quite happy to get you started.

This kid should be used as a tactic to finally stop the damn boats coming over the Med.
Instead, he gets used as a ploy to push for encouraging it even more.

1 million will enter Europe this year; none will be sent back.

Where will they live ?
Where will working places come from ?
How much more will everyone else have to pay for this disaster ?

And how can anyone have any control over security if even I'Ding these illegals
gets howled down as racist ?

5 ISIS jihadis caught today.

How come every Western country in Europe is yelling at Hungary for actually implementing
the EU policies ?

Actually, you never said that.

You said:

$1:
If Canada had approved their refugee request and allowed them to come to Canada to be sponsored by their family already here, they wouldn't think that risky journey was their only option.

This one was a family, and we dropped the ball.

We didn't drop the ball. The father, when he allowed his sons to get on that boat with lifejackets and not use them, dropped the ball. It's a tragedy easily prevented with basic safety and parenting.

Actually, I did.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:
They asked for refuge, we ignored them.

We had a little to do with that.

It's also easily prevented by granting them refugee status so they don't have to get on that boat.

I agree. I actually agreed with Harper as well, there are two ways to prevent the refugee crisis from getting worse. One is the way you describe, sending them back to that hellhole to fix the problem themselves; or to bomb ISIS and Assad until they have no fight left in them. The the refugees will return themselves. But that requires ground troops, and no one wants to see our troops coming home in body bags again.

But they aren't in Canada, so you didn't get me started. ;)

Safe havens need to be established in the area(Cyprus, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon).....actual real safe havens, not the bullshit safe havens set up in the former Yugoslavia, where those guarding the displaced stood by and allowed them to be massacred. The UAE and Saudi Arabia also need to start stepping up with funding. Had these actually been in place there'd be no reason for people to cram into unseaworthy vessels.

The estimate is 11 million refugees have fled Syria, that's unheard of and you're right the UAE, Saudi Arabia need to step up now. Thousands of children have died in this civil war and the body of a child gets the World's attention? FFS! 8O

Screw The Canadian Media for caring now, Fucking Ghouls.

The UAE and Saudis probably stepped up with their funding for ISIS but in their typical Arab way don't give a flying fuck about any of the people that are getting victimized by ISIS.

Bombing ISIS is doing anything. It's an inconvenience for them, I'm sure, but not an existential threat. And eventually the civilian casualites are going to rise, or somebody's going to accidentally blow up a school. In my opinion, we are just exacerbating the situation. We should GTFO.

This crisis has been a long time developing. It's mostly Europe's problem, so we don't hear much of it over here. The picture of this boy, as Mulcair put it, will define an era. It's bigger than the death of a single child now, the way the picture of the screaming little girl on fire in Vietnam became so much bigger.

Apparently we rejected this family in Canada even though they had sponsors here. It will interesting to see why. They offered the father citizenship today (he declined), so it can't be a terrorism issue.

Not that we'll get a straight answer. The Minister has now offically gone underground.

Ironically, Phan Thị Kim Phúc came over as a refugee and still lives in Canada.
