bootlegga bootlegga:
I had that happen to me the last time I went to BC.

I don't know about Costco in BC, but here you can swipe your credit or debit card and put in as much or as little as you need.

Same in Italy, the benefits are you pay the 2nd highest prices in Europe for gas,
and since it is all on machine, there are no attendants most of the time.

$1:
Police recovered the stolen truck on Monday night in the community of Varsity. Tips from the public then led police to a home in Beddington on Tuesday night where the two suspects were located.

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody, but was later released after police consultation with the Crown's office. Police believe he was the passenger in the truck at the time of Sunday's hit and run.

The 20-year-old was taken into custody after police surrounded the home for hours.

Police anticipate they will charge him with several offences once he appears before a Justice of the Peace:

Criminal negligence causing death
Hit and run causing death
Dangerous driving causing death
Possession of stolen property over $5000
Theft

How many years do you think he'll get?

A Gladue report may recommend that he get nothing, or minimal jail time.

That's the guy who killed Grant DePatie in Vancouver. Dragged him for a couple of kilometers. He got nine years, was paroled and broke parole 3 times. I believe he's about to get out for good soon. Look out world.

I like what Minnesota did on top of pay-to-pump. You needed money to do this but they had, for lack of a better term, "gasoline banks" where you could pre-purchase a set amount of fuel at the current price. If you wanted to pre-purchase 1000 gallons of fuel you could. Then they issued you a card which you inserted into the gas pump every time you filled up and it would deduct the amount and give you your remaining gasoline balance in a printout.

I've seen similar systems in Ontario but they seem to be primarily for commercial vehicles rather than personal vehicles.

I work at a gas station anf here, we only pre-authorize. The only amount taken out of your account is the amount you actually use. No holds, no putting back on cards.

Most stations here in the US are like that also. Another thing you can do is if you think your tank will take about $35 to fill up you can pay $40 cash then once done pumping go back in and get your change.

There are many options instead of pump then pay that it is irresponsible of companies to operate this way.

I agree.
It is funny tho, most Americans are bitching about the system and Albertans don't get it.

People throw their card at you from the back of a line-up, and say 'fill up on *pump#'.
Sorry buddy, not working that way. Then they're pissed they have to wait in line ;)

So basically you're saying that the whole province had to change because of 1 asshole,
and now Alberta should do the same, also because of this 1 asshole.

Dunno, seems like a law that's actually designed to help the gas stations, not the public.

It is designed to help gas station employees, and not the public.
However, you can pay at the pump and don't come in at all ;)

And yes, the whole province had to change their system because one employee in the BIG CITY was a bit overprotective of his gas and jumped in front of a truck, that did not stop for him...

That's actually a good idea. It would smooth out the price of gas fluctuation quite a bit!

Unfortunately that's the way our justice system works.
