Don't think I can relate to somebody who puts any animal on equal ground with a child.

So it's not about your caring for child safety it's your hate of dogs that is motivating your responses here.

I've owned dogs.

Dogs are awesome. I'll even tolerate a useful cat.

You are being irrational.

No you failed to support your claim of child safety was the issue for you.

:?:

Will these suffice or do I need to reference fatal attacks?

I have no other reason other than child safety. What else is there?

There's a picture of my last dog on here somewhere, she finally gave in to old age.

You have yet to offer any solutions other than banning dogs.

The problem is a person or dog will survive a Chihuahua bite with a few punctures wounds but, I defy anyone to refute the fact that with a pit bull, Rottweiler or any large breed of dog that trauma will be significantly greater and the costs to fix them much higher.

So, it's not so much the fact that dogs bite but the fact that there are different degrees of damage done if, they do bite. Breed banning likely won't work but, muzzling your dog in public isn't an outrageous request especially if it's aggressive, has a history or is a high risk breed. Call it insurance for the owner and a public safety measure.

Unfortunately most of the time it's the owners who are most to blame but, any small breed dog running free or large breed dog on a leash being held by a person who can't control it has the potential for disaster.

I personally find the worst behaved dog owners are the "pocket rat" owners. Had one at the dog park that kept jumping at me and asking the owner to get control of their dog earned me the reply, "He's just playing".

With that being said I then called Sasha over and told her to jump and give sweetheart a kiss on the cheek. I told her "She's just playing".

I don't agree with muzzling due to the fact that your dog is now defenseless.

That's the problem and given the plethora of dog owners who can't spell responsible let alone act that way you're right to worry about your dog being defenseless.

Everytime I walk my pocket rats at the park/playing fields where there are about a 100 signs that say "all dogs must be on a leash" and "dogs are not allowed on the playing fields" there are those asshole irresponsible owners who have their dogs running free and others that let them crap all over the ball fields.

My dogs have been attacked 3 times by dogs who were supposed to be on leash or secured but, because their owners are those special fucking elitists they weren't. Now the small one is so gunshy that she starts barking at every large dog she sees. So maybe it's time to take the owners out and shoot them so they can't fuck up any other responsible dog owners pets.

Can't stand small dogs myself, but as you say, they are not the ones doing the mauling of people and other dogs. Dog owners need to have control of their dogs - even a first attack should have serious consequences for the owner, and if the dog is given a second chance, that's it - two strikes and the dog is out and the owner in jail. While some small dog owners may feel entitled and their little darling can do what it wants because it's harmless, it's the people who own dogs to feel tough that are the problem. And we know what breeds they favor.

Punishments and fines are all reactive. They aren't going to PREVENT much.
Licensing dog owners on the other hand...

They're also preventative.

A certain punishment will aid in prevention because people don't want to face that punishment.

And I'm sure I can post 1000+ pictures of kids hit by cars while playing in the street. Yet you won't support taking a child away from a parent that allows them to do such things.

And what didn't make the news today is millions of Pit Bulls/Great Danes/Wolfhounds etc. that did nothing but love their families.

Children and animals aren't on the same level. It's a stupid comparison.

You're 100% right. My dog is better behaved, and smarter, than most children.
