Figured you'd come up with that.

Why do you think people steal methadone? You think it's their first drug of choice?

I live in a small town where everyone goes to the Post Office every day to get their mail. It would be so much more convenient if there was no one there and you just got a card for a parcel and drove 100 km to Prince George to get it.
The town really needs to lose three or four more jobs and we could pay a quarter more per stamp every year. It's just pro union bullshit.
Fuck you guys are licking it up like gravy, aren't you? Less service, fewer jobs, more cost to you.

Tipping them over? you should complain about that, the contractors down here that installed ours poured a cement slab and then they were bolted down, no ones tipping these ones over.

I say R=UP to super boxes

We have, and they are. But they were built on a really steep hill, so the little concrete pad is completely unsupported on the downhill side, and just means 3 kids have to hang off them instead of 2 in order to pull them over. Canada Post doesn't give a shit.

I much preferred the old Post Office.

The local convenience store sent back a certificate I got, because I didn't pick it up the first week (I was on holiday). The certificate was for a course I took. With the certificate, I could prove to my company I passed the course and they would reimburse me for the cost of the training. No certificate, no reimbursement. That little stunt cost me $5000+.

So now, I use UPS for every item I can, because they will place it in a box I built on my front porch. Percolator doesn't have an office in town, and doesn't do home delivery.

Why do people go to get their mail everyday, afraid of missing out on one of those promotions where you might win a cruise if you answer a skill testing question with in a limited time?

Because it's a nice walk from my house to the post office and a nice place to exchange pleasantries with my fellow townsfolk. It's called being sociable. Now get back to your electronic gadget. :D

I only get it once a week. Most of the stuff isn't for me anyway, and it only holds a week worth of crap mail. After that, they start packing it in like Tokyo commuters on the morning train, and they took away the 'garbage' slot because they don't like us doing that to them.

For some odd reason. [angel]

Go with the red dot program, I have my box decorated with them and I don't get any junk mail unless it's addressed to me. I collect my mail around the 4th to 6th of the month and probably average around 10 envelopes a month.

Canada post is shit when it come to delivering a package to the door. They don't even try and automatically put a pick up slip in with the mail. If it's small they will put a key in your box that opens a larger lock box on the bottom row. You just toss that key in the mail box beside it when done.
Purolator works best here for me. Always to the door and dependable. I have NSR (no sig required) so they will leave it at the front door or a lock box on my property at their cost if I wanted. UPS is fine but I think they only try to deliver once then you have to go see them to pick up.

CP won't even try to deliver to my door, even if the sender pays for delivery. They just leave it at the wonderful "convenience" store, and put a card in my mailbox that they 'tried'. Which is BS, because I've even been at home when they 'tried'. And they didn't. Calling CP to complain only gets you a "but they said they tried!" excuse. But they can't even get my address right in their database, so I've come to not expect much from them. And still, I get disappointed.

Purolator doesn't even try. You have to go to a depot in Edmonton to pick up. But the UPS guy knows me, and will not deliver till after 3 when he knows I'm home, and will try at least 3 times. Or leaves it in the box, if it fits.

I have the exact same contempt for CP and parcel delivery. Pricks don't even try although someone has paid to have that service............and I've been home!

I think with Purolator it has to do with the area you live. I have the same relationship with Purolator as you do with UPS. Although I can't think of a bad experience that I've had with them. FedEx has been really good for me too. Does UPS have overnight? If not that's why I wouldn't use them and neither would my company.

Just after I post a snippy snide comment, I come back from the Post Office with a letter about how they're thinking of "privatizing" it.
Having a whole town go to a building isn't good enough. Now they want to get rid of the building and staff. There just aren't enough boarded up business in rural Canada to satisfy the bean-counters!

FedEx has been really good for me too

I shipped a 9 foot long by 1 foot circumference bundle weighing 50 lbs by FedEx to GUAM about a decade ago and it got there within two drays in good condition. I was mightily impressed.

I live in one of the first neighborhoods and in the first town in Canada to have these mandatory "super-duper" boxes and it sucks.

I dont know what the issue is here with Citizens and the Post  . We have them type of mail box's all over in the US and nobody has issue's. As for Package's mine always come FedEx. Never trust the USPS with a package nor UPS/DHL imo and in my case. Other's might like them and that's fine. Canada Post package came to my box 4 days ago from Yukon. I didn't have any issue's getting my mail from the super box, nor did the gent in the Wheel chair, nor the old bag neighbor lol and she calls herself a proud strong old bag lol. I'd rather bitch about the Post and USPS's slow pia delivery times and rates lol.
