Thanos Thanos:
Yeah, but unlike Edmonton, Toronto and Buffalo don't smell like spoiled onions all the time.

... sour gas, maybe ...

Too bad the pick went to Edmonton. Curious to see how the old boys fuck this one up.

Toronto only drafts good golfers.

Why are you talking about Toronto?

Thanos Thanos:
The look on McDavid's face when the news was announced can most accurately be described as an expression someone has when:

1) A judge gives an innocent person three life sentences to be served consecutively for murder
2) They get told they have incurable mega-cancer/ebola/AIDS/herpes
3) They get told their dog/entire family died
4) A rich dude gets told that, with no pre-nup agreement in place, the trophy blonde he married a month ago is entitled to half of all his stuff
5) A despair-ridden mixture of all of the above

Oilers win, and have another first-overall pick to ruin with their abysmally shitty coaching and management. Connor McDavid certainly loses. Could anyone blame him if he pulled a Lindros and refused to report if drafted by Edmonton? Poor kid. :(

1) the shitty coach is gone, Eakins set the team back at least 3 years, management hired him (-1) but also fired him +5.
2) under Eakins 2 player's careers were basically over, with coach Nelson behind the bench they both came back in the second half to post career years and earn themselves each, a 2 year contract extension.
3) resurrected the power play to one of the best in the second half.
4) Eberle was 8th in scoring in the league for the second half of the season.
5) at the start of the season they only had 2 NHL quality centermen, now they have 5 thanks to managament doing its job.

Now thinking about it over night you have to realize the whole hockey world was turned upside down with the Oiler's winning the Lottery, so why wouldn't the kid have a look of disbelieve on his face, hell he thought he was going to be able to go for some home cooking on Sundays from Buffalo. He said so himself that his heart never raced as fast as it was last night watching team after team's card revealed. In the post Lottery presser he said it would be an honour to play for a great organization like the Oilers. :D

Suck it up Buttercups, he's Oiler's property. R=UP [cheer]

You have to realize that I'm really only here for mayhem because on this issue, like practically all other issues too, I simply don't care.

I care about all the wee beasties because the wee beasties are one of the few things that make me happy anymore. :(

Also, this guy's chariot owns.

Having 4 #1 picks on your first 2 lines is pretty cool unfortunately, having 4 #1 picks on your first two lines and no bonfide NHL defensemen, no bonfide NHL calibre Goaltender and no bonfide dressing room leadership means those 4 #1 picks are about as effective against other NHL teams as an aspirin is against aids.

If they don't trade one of those 4 picks for some depth at defense and goaltending we'll be having this conversation at exactly the time again next year when they get their 5th first round draft pick. ROTFL

Agreed, but now they have some depth, plus another 1st. round pick this year to get a deal like that done. :P

They'd better because I'd say time is running out for that regime in Edmonton. TBH I'm already surprised they haven't run more of them out on a rail than just Eakins.

When your down every GM wants to fleece your team, as they say, sometimes the best trades you make are the ones you don't make.

Glad to see Connor went to a Canadian team unlike Buffalo, Arizona or Toronto.
