prescription costs are ridiculous here in Canada. I paid about $5 every time I visited the doctor in Taiwan. That covered meds for 2 mnths.

Until the provinces agree to combined purchases, it's just a patchwork of coverage and meds that are covered. Having said that, we pay less than the majority of the developed countries of the world. Canada is using generics better than they did 10 years ago but there are still more savings by way of letting them into the market quicker instead of delays caused by some redundant provincial approvals.
