Thanos Thanos:
.
Just like with the NEP in the 1980's there's always going to be a certain segment of the Canadian left that will massively enjoy it when Albertans get hammered.

I call them card-carrying Liberals, mainly from big-city Ontario and Quebec.

Depends on who you talk to. 2008 was the result of American financial sector shenanigans and larceny that really didn't affect the Canadian energy sector all that much. This new collapse has a lot of dimensions, from trying to undercut the Russian economy to force Putin to put the brakes on his belligerence against Ukraine. Or the Saudis doing it deliberately to harm the Iranians, who need a much-higher oil price to keep their economy going, thanks to the hammering they've been taking due to the sanctions over their nuclear programs. Or to someone in Washington DC wanting the Saudis to do this in order to bedevil, once again, the Iranians as well as the Venezuelans who also need a high oil price to break even.

All in all it's a perfect storm of shit, and sector workers are the ones who are going to get nailed the hardest. There's not much patriotism from the guys at the top when it comes to our jobs, any more than there was for the manufacturing workers in Ontario when free trade and outsourcing ravaged them. We are all literally and completely expendable to the politicians and industry bosses, no matter where we work, what we work at, or who we work for.

One will survive, one presumes, but it will be with a much-diminished lifestyle going forward. No choice now, regardless of what happens. Can't listen to the bickering economists either because those clowns couldn't reach a consensus if their lives depended on it. Or, when it comes down to it, couldn't find their asses with both hands and a flashlight either.

I'd like some heads up when it does, all my guns are back in Ontario!

The people will pay and they will not be thanked.

The funny part is thinking your dream scenario would somehow work out better.

Fundamentally misunderstanding human nature.

Just wait until Justine becomes the card carrier in chief.

I remember the day Muldoon got elected; my mother, and I quote,

Oh God, we're all fucked now ! 8O

I'm sure that things like this happening to people like me will really cheer up all our resident hate-filled leftists, which just shows what kind of people they really are that they'd be glad for things like this to happen just because someone disagrees with them on certain things.
Which users here do you believe would honestly feel that way?

Not necessarily you, but I can think of one uber-dick on my blocked list who's basically been crowing since he came to CKA about how much he's looking forward to Alberta getting it's come-uppance. Hit the CBC comments too if you want more proof about how many of those 'for the people!' leftists are just a bunch of hate-filled anti-Alberta/anti-West nutcases who want to see us collapse completely. Low oil prices that damage the economy are something they like because to them it's time for some revenge against folks like me for all of our 'crimes' against Canada (i.e., voting Conservative, being earth-rapers, being too like Americans (allegedly) having an economy that's basically a gas station that provides the revenue for the rest of the country, etc, etc, etc).
Just like with the NEP in the 1980's there's always going to be a certain segment of the Canadian left that will massively enjoy it when Albertans get hammered.

Paranoia strikes deep. Into your heart it will creep. Must get awful stinky and sweaty in that box of yours.
