Know what's interesting about this thread? The same people who are "outraged" whenever Harper plays ignorant about something questionable going on in his party or with one of his members or appointees, have nothing to say about McNuggets and the Wynned Bag acting like they had absolutely no idea this was going on.

This bit with the gas plants just proves that no matter which party you're in, if you're "running the show", you can get away with pretty much anything while making some dupe take the fall for it.

I didn't diss golf, I just said I don't care for it. And from my friends who do like golf, Phoenix is one of the places to go for it in the winter. But otherwise Phoenix is just Calgary with cactus...if I wanted to live in the States, there are many other much more interesting places than Phoenix.

I'm mostly outraged that the wife of the wiper jumped from the Ont to the BC libs and now holds a high position there. As for Ont, don't know much about it, except that Wynne wasn't in charge. So to use your Harper analogy, I should be outraged that Jason Kenney doesn't know about the Duffy payoff for instance. Seems bassackwards.

Not in charge does not mean 'not involved'.

She may have been. I don't know, do you? If she was premier at the time, I would hold her responsible no matter what, but she wasn't. Just as I say Jason Kenney probably didn't know about the Duffy payoff, it seems entirely reasonable that she didn't know about the computer wiping either. Those sorts of things are usually not broadcast to everybody.

Erasing the info seems like a huge risk for whoever was involved. $10,000 seems like a fairly decent quote. I am actually pretty impressed that they were able to get it done at that price.

Hopefully this fiscally conservative mentalitly spills over into the policy making. :D

Au contraire! I am outspoken about Harper, but know very little about Ontairo or it's internal politics. Certainly not enough to comment beyond what I know - destroying a hard disk requires a hammer, and not a $10,000 one.

And partisanship happens all the time. Stephan Dion proposes a carbon tax, and this board goes bananas. Harper proposes pretty much the same thing, the same as 'dirty tarsands Alberta' already has, and nary a whisper!

You are why computer stores are still in business.

Hard drive + hammer = $12

New Hard drive, $60.

$9928 profit. [B-o]

How about $3.5 million. 8O

$1:
But here’s where the story gets really ridiculous — absolutely disgraceful, actually.

Costante, no doubt under orders from his Liberal taskmasters (Ms. Wynne and Co.) informs the committee in his letter that it will cost them up to $3.5-million to actually retrieve the e-mails on those tapes — ones that should have been offered up freely ages ago (had they not been deleted, of course.)
Now that's some weapons grade hammer. :D

I'd fire that whole IT department. File restore should be their bread and butter! Asking 3.5 million to do what they are already paid for seems absurd. (can't read the article linked, Sun news doesn't let me)

It's an old article from July 2013. Can't find any updates or further references.

No worries man. It's the Sun's fault for requiring that I run scripts.

I've done enough email restores to know how it goes. You hand the tapes to the IT geek, say 'restore these and send me a link to the share you restored them to'. When the IT geek is done, then I collect my $3.5 mil.
