Russia can't even build it's own warships? It's sad when they can't keep up with the US or China, or even the UK anymore.

Also nice to see the worlds least moral weapon dealers found something they couldn't let slide. Although I can't help but wonder if it's an attempt to squeeze some more shekels out of the Russians.

You know, these are pretty close to the original JSS concept that was subsequently dumbed down to just two more oilers. This really could be made to work. It's not as ridiculous as it sounds and it would give our navy some actual capability.

Manning? Build it and they will come.

What capability? The ability to land marines we don't have or carry VTOL planes we don't plan on buying? Heck, we'd be hard pressed to equip it with helos, nevermind the assault craft it would need.

While they are nice on paper, we don't have a definable need for these, other than perhaps disaster relief, which sounds like a very poor reason to spend 10% of our annual budget for two ships. The AORs could fill that role too, as well as supplying our ships at seas, which these cannot do.

As I said, it makes way more sense to get the DDHs going than invest in something that will almost never get used in an operational fashion other than during exercises with allies.

In fairness if the RCAF had the Marine's ability they'd be in the same boat lol. Good point.
