I still see it as nonsensical to think that government spending is the fountainhead of any economy.

In times of Economic crisis, it is.

Even when the same government had a heavy hand in creating the crisis?

That sounds a lot like feeding an addicts addictions to me.

I would have no problems with increased government spending during bad times if the subsequent governments applied equal measures to reduce their spending during the good times.

The examples of the subsequent governments doing that are too few and far between for my personal tastes and that may have skewed my opinion, but it is what it is.


The same or different Government, it just depends on timing. You are right though, it seems most Governments don't have the discipline to cut back during the Good Times. That's a weakness of the system where Politicians have to appeal to an ill informed and educated electorate.

Well, that's Alberta which is pretty close to being a Single Party jurisdiction. :wink:
