I was careless to suggest none of our youth would participate. That was hyperbole. But I'll be counting heads at the cenotaph next year and if there's anywhere near the 600 or so teenagers who were in the highschool gym on Monday, I'll eat my goddamn shoe. I'd wager there won't be 20.

In Winnipeg in the late 50's, early 60's Remembrance Day at school started as any other day, at 11:00am everyone was gathered in the auditorium/gym for Remembrance Day services. After that we were all cut loose for the rest of the day.

It was pretty much this in NB in the 70's.

My son was in Air Cadets for a few years. Just warms the heart to see those wee ones in that uniform. Even if it is only Cadets.
