wildrosegirl wildrosegirl:
I'm in agreement. Remembrance Day should NOT be overshadowed or have to compete with Christmas or any other holiday. Retailers should stick their greed factor where the sun won't shine and wait until after out of respect for our vets and currently serving soldiers.
I also tell them that when I see them putting Christmas shit out before Nov 12th. I'm sure it doesn't help, but it's better than being a "couch bitcher".

Greed factor? Give me a break!

Remembrance Day isn't associated with the retail sector at all. Should all stores close up on that day to avoid people like you crying "greed"?

Retail stores have nothing to do with Remembrance Day nor should they. Retail stores start putting out Christmas items because PEOPLE BUY THEM.

It's simple, Halloween ends and that crap gets taken off the shelves, and Christmas crap replaces it. It's either make them keep the Halloween crap on the shelves for 11 more days or have empty shelves for 11 days. I've never worked in retail but I believe you don't make money with having empty shelves.

Exactly. They could wait until November 12th. But no - retailers all have to be "first" to jump at a buck. That's called greed.

I take it you're one of the people Christmas shopping on Remembrance Day so of course you don't get it.

If we stop being greedy, the terrorists win.

I have. And for decades, retailers survived starting Christmas shit after Remembrance Day. They have shit on the shelves the other 10 months through the year. It's just plain greed and disrespect. Partially fueled also by laziness on the part of the retailers because this allows them to skip one step of merchandising.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I've been the guy working in retail with empty shelves the day after Halloween. How do you suggest retailers fill their aisles for almost 2 weeks? Do they close down for 2 weeks just to appease people like you that are conveniently concerned about Remembrance Day all due to the actions of this past year?

You don't seem to get it...nor does Brett Wilson....retail and Remembrance Day aren't related in the slightest. People still need to work and shelves need product on the,. In your eyes, people shopping at all leading up to Remembrance Day is retail greed. Perhaps you need to close all the stores and put people out of work for two weeks.

No. You don't get it. You never will.

Kinda like living without your cell phone. It'll just never happen.

If you want to argue that just being open for business is disrespectful, you may have a point. Nit-picking because of what they have on the shelves... I don't get it... :? besides, what do we do about year round Christmas stores?

Me, I try to ignore Christmas until December 24th.

You're awful quick to rush to judgment yet equally quick to avoid the question.

Clearly you have zero experience in this field. I'll as you again...what do you suggest retailers do for the two weeks following Halloween?

She doesn't have a point to make. Apparently, it's only disrespectful for retailers to put out the product and not for those who come and shop or for the millions of other items that are bought that day.

It's ok....it will all blow over when wildrose and Brett go on to more pressing issues next year when our soldiers aren't much of a concern for them and will be tucked away on the back burner.
