It's all well and good that the Canadian Muslim community is finally speaking out against violence but it doesn't mean squat till they find the cojones to speak out against Muslim countries that perpetrate it on a regular basis.

Otherwise, it just makes it seem their recriminations are nothing more than a self preservation tactic used to deflect the backlash that unfortunately occurs after every terror attack.

Really, you think that's the issue. That Canadian Muslims support countries many of them fled from. If they'd just speak out against Saudi Arabia beheading people or what have you, then you could trust the Muslims and peace would reign.

I don't give a shit what they do in Muslim countries. That's their business. In fact I don't want Muslims to bring their squabbles from other countries over here. Let it go, be Canadian.

What I want is Canadian Muslims standing up to other Canadian Muslims who advocate violent jihad, whether here or abroad. Specifically here, actually, because abroad it gets confusing just who we deem the good guys and the bad. That's it, just stand up to the extremists - challenge them if they preach general jihad, report them if they advocate violence in Canada.

Jeez, you guys always find some new nit to pick about why Muslims aren't doing a good enough job about confronting violence within their midst. Them speaking out about it means a lot more that squat, but if they spoke to each other about it, not just make news releases, that would mean even more. I think that's still lacking, because they are afraid to break solidarity.

Do Christians apply that standard?

When is the last time you saw a Christian fly a plane into a building, or kidnap foriegn nationals and take their heads off, or stone someone to death, et al?

Smarten up, Andy.

And what's wrong with them taking it one step farther? Should the states that sponsor terrorism be free from criticism and ridicule from expats because the people doing it aren't there anymore and like you don't care what happens to the people left behind.

I guess given that criteria we should just forget about those 300 girls Boko Haram kidnapped or the Qatif rape case in Saudi Arabia because it doesn't involve Canadian Muslims.

What Muslim groups and communities need is a game changer figure head like what the Pope has become, of course that's easier said than done.

Seeing as the Muslims have no real central authority, and haven't had one(Caliph) since the fall of the Ottoman Empire, who was mainly a spiritual leader for the Sunnis. The Shi'a are more akin to Protestants or the various flavours of Orthodox Christianity. Their holy book the Koran is what links them, not a bureaucracy/clergy like the Goddamned, idolatrous, Mary venerating, whore of Babylon, heathen, Papist 'may they burn in hell forever' bastards in Rome.,....sorry my inner Presbyterian broke out

To bad. I thought you and your doctors had it under control but, I'd still seek professional help before it becomes anymore troublesome. You can never tell about these things especially if and when they'll come back since you wouldn't want it to breakout at an inappropriate time, like during a HRC of Canada hearing. ROTFL
