Funny thing is, way back in 1985 on my first trip to Scotland there was a shop my cousin owned that sold men's fine clothing, rather upscale stuff.
One of the sales people had a few piercings, some tats and a spiked Mohawk, which I found kind of strange in place like that.
Later I casually mentioned to my cousin that back home you'd never see a guy looking like that working in a shop like that.
His response was simply, "It would be their loss. He's my top salesmen."

peck420 peck420:
This is retarded.

I'm not limited on who I can hire based on my personal perceptions. I am limited by my customers perceptions.

Well fuck their perceptions. I know of a whole bunch that won't buy gas where the staff are native. Their loss for being ignorant.
Ran a computer/internet/internet cafe store for almost 20 years. Wouldn't have blinked at hiring someone with green hair, tats and piercings. Who gives a shit? Only an asshole.

Delwin Delwin:
I guess it's my choice to work for who I want but I am really considering a forming a religion of DoWhatILikeWhenILike-ism. How many signatures do I need for that ?

That's a great idea and should work real well for you till someone from that IllDoItToYouAndTheresFuckAllYouCanDoAboutIt-ism church down the street shows up and tries to convert you. :P

Simple solution lady. Instead of whining about people not hiring you, why don't you find an environment that accepts your idiosyncrasies and allows your body to be a canvas of personal expression.

I'm old enough to remember when the only people who had tattoo's were either sailors or convicts and most of the time because of our advanced judicial system it was a combination of both. [B-o]

This is much ado about nothing more than being self entitled and if she wasn't so dense she'd have figured out that when you get tattoo's and piercings you limit your job opportunities, fact.

I'd love to see this lady explain how she'd handle it when her employer ends up losing business because customers don't have confidence in her ability to do her job, based on her appearance.

What would she do, drag the customer before a human rights commission and force him or her to accept her services?

On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be giving her any ideas...
