Regina Regina:
bootlegga bootlegga:
That was a pretty cool bit on CBC - looks they are going all out for the 70th anniversary of D-Day - saw an ad last night.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/community/d-day- ... -1.2658959

The 3rd picture, John N. Paterson is a friend of mine's father who I've posted about before. From the Paterson Elevators and Paterson Shipping family. He purchased a Spitfire after the war and restored it to flying condition. He flew it all around the area and local airshows for years before donating it to the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa........where it is prominently displayed to this day.

I know the one. I gently touched the wing once at that museum and the guard (newly arrived from the subcontinent) had a conniption fit. It was a reverential touch.

I believe that the same Spit is on loan to the warplane heritage Museum in Hamilton. I slept almost beside it back in April with a den of Cubs.

No. They are two different aircraft.

Watching the CBC coverage of the D-Day anniversary.
The international ceremony was a complete bore and tainted with modern messages to Putin. Not sure I'm a fan of interpretive dance either.

If they had lobbed a few shells from one of the German guns towards the dancers then we could have said that was a true interpretation of what the solders went did on D-Day. 8)

Look for Obama to do a speech about how the observance is actually all about himself.
