Brenda Brenda:
So you have no problem with the statement that 'staff might be distracted'?
What about skinny jeans then? Yoga pants? Tank-tops? Make-up? Piercings? Tattoos?

This is too short??

I do not have a problem with that comment. Far too often it's true. Girls go to school dressed like cheap whores and then go crying to whoever will listen because somebody looked at them. No shit, Diva girl. You walk around with your ass crack showing, or your boobs hanging out, someone's gonna look. You don't want them to look - put some f***ing clothes on. You go to school to learn. Get an education. Show your shit off to the boys on your own time.

No, personally, I don't think they're too short, but the school has very clear, well written guidelines, so follow them. Period. They acknowledge that they can very from student to student, but that all are to follow the same rule. That's fair. Buy clothing accordingly. She can wear those at home after school and on the weekends.

It's far from debate-worthy.

I have a 15-1/2 year old girl and I wouldn't be too thrilled if she wore shorty, short, tight, tight shorts (that's not what I saw in the article). I wouldn't dare offer an opinion, though as she would then go to school wearing a thong just to shock and piss me off. We tread through that mine field very carefully.

Staff, both male and female, would be distracted by this based on how the male students, and some female students, reacted to it. Someone with no idea about education or classroom dynamics would fail to grasp this simple fact. It isn't about teachers being sexual deviants, but trying to control a class full of them.

Never pass up an opportunity to place a passive aggressive, derogatory comment, huh

Not when you keep writing stupid shit. What's next, an evening of you telling me to leave you alone while you continue to PM me ad nauseum?

Ok, before shit gets out of hand here, lets get something straight. The last time we pm-ed was in March, and that was you initiating it, insulting me.
So before you try to spread some 'stalker'-bs rumours... Do not flatter yourself.
Oh, wait, it WAS me, sending you the first pm. Asking you for a reason why you insulted me in public, which you never answered, but just kept on insulting me. And kept on going. RIGHT! That was it!

I have a 14 and a 16 year old daughter. I think I know enough about appropriate clothing for girls. This pair of shorts is not inappropriate.

Don't even bother trying to pm me, Shep, because I am not going to be in a bs, waste of my time, insulting conversation like we had in March.

me PM you? I only responded to say, in several ways, 'fuck off I'm not interested...I don't care about your angst and vitriol.' Well that's sort of dishonest, because I knew dismissing you would just get you going......and I was right.

I remember I told you to go fuck yourself, which you refused, because that is what your wife was for. Again, poor wife.
And you didn't leave it at that, did you.

Oh really?? Just because you believe your own lie doesn't make it the truth. You got all bitchy...big surprise..... after I laughed at your hypocrisy in a fight with someone else, and you began PMing me....telling me to leave you alone......and continued to do so over a dozen times. There are several here who can attest to this being your MO, at the risk of being recipients of another round of your manic missives. Now go watch out for Timmy, bad men and wells.

Basically, school dress codes are easily violated. It's like speeding. Who doesn't drive 120kph on a freeway? If you said you don't, you're either driving a big rig, or you're lying. If you get caught speeding, then it's on you.

This girl got caught, and even with the staged photograph, those shorts are short. Suspension worthy? Nah, but if she's been warned more than once over dress code violations, then a suspension might be warranted

That they even bring up that 'staff would be distracted' is simply gross. If your staff is being distracted by that, or ANY student, you might want to check your staff, not your students.

Right on the money.
What dress code? Fuck you they made it up on the spot to cover their own lecherous asses. I defy anyone to produce the relevant dress code and the authority that supposedly made it up.

I'd agree that the shorts don't really look all that short to me, and the whole thing about it distracing the boys.... I kinda remember that age. I was distraccted by girls period. Didn't matter what they were wearing. Grunge was the thing when I was in Jr. High, and I was distracted by girls in baggy jeans and lumber jackets.

That said, if the schools policy is that they have to be finger length, then that's the policy. Abide by it, or try to get it changed, but simply ignoring it has predictable consequences.

I seem to remember this silliness years ago. We solved it quite easily then. What do there Gym uniforms look like? How about the volley ball and basketball uniforms?

A bit vague though. The high schools I went to specifically they had to be as long as the tip of your fingers. They weren't that specific from what I found here, but, I assume that's the standard policy.
