I've always enjoyed the Bond films when they came out but watching the old ones now, I seem more critical about them. I think the way they are written and acted out are tailored for the social and moral time of the day. (M is a women etc) I liked Roger Moore at the time but now I think he sucked a bit. For me as far as who plays Bond, Connery is where the bar is set and Craig to me is the one who's come closest so far.
It's an spy/action movie so the characters and story are for the most part implausible. Shortcuts in fact and characters need to be made to move it along or it could turn into a 6 hour bore fest. To enjoy them I think we need to ignore some of the fiction and accept the unacceptable. Although in Skyfall I saw no need to kill off M and shoot the shit out of the Aston Martin.
I don't watch that many movies but I will always make an effort to see the latest Bond movie.
