Unsound Unsound: jj2424 jj2424: ALCB stores have been gone from Alberta for over 20 years. Still can't buy booze at the grocery store thoughBC finally getting with the times. Pretty sure this means they're ahead of the times. Does that mean 1000s of union shmoes will lose their jobs Not a big fan of unions myself, but celebrating thousands of lost jobs is pretty douche-y Not to worry, the BC liquor stores will remain. The people sweating bullets are the private outlets who paid good money for their licenses and will now have stiff competition. The govt stores still have way better selection than the private ones.

Gunnair Gunnair: Zipperfish Zipperfish: Yeee-haw. About time. As a hardcore alcoholic I completely applaud this move. Whoa. Andy is going to stalk your staggering ass, rummy! It would be fun to turn off the taps and see how many alkies are really out there who "can quit any time I want." A good percentage of them like to go on about the lousy drug users too, I bet.

Why does that bother you so? In normal life, I'm not at all a born again teetotaler, in fact I'm not one at all. Just had some glasses of white wine on a few occasions, and enjoyed them. Was never a white wine drinker before. I wish I could enjoy beer - there's nothing more refreshing on a hot summer's day. Just can't handle the taste.
But on this forum, with all the bullshit about drug users, with who knows how many silent alkies here, it just needs a bit of push back. More problems with alcohol than all illegal drugs combined.

For all the complaining you have about knocking the druggies, you more than make up for it by knocking the boozers. Obvious hypocrite is still obvious.

I grew up with buying (and selling) booze at the grocery store. Even at gas stations, although years ago (20 or something), the ones located on the highway were banned from selling alcohol.
There were (are) also private liquor stores and they never went bankrupt because grocery stores sold booze as well. Liquor store simply had more and much better choice.

Will you say the same to a boozer on this forum that knocks the druggies? I've never seen you do that.

Yeah...because there's no difference between the guy who legally buys a bottle of Naramata Bench merlot and the guy who scores a back alley dime bag of crack or some acid tabs. Yeah...

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy: andyt andyt: Maybe this is why I don't drink: $1: The powerful hallucinogen LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) has potential as a treatment for alcoholism, according to a retrospective analysis of studies published in the late 1960s and early 1970s. http://www.nature.com/news/lsd-helps-to ... sm-1.10200 http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... e-addicts/Although I gave up the acid long before the booze. Who did they use for the baseline. Timothy Leary? Okay that made me laugh for real.
