saturn_656 saturn_656:
We simply don't take security seriously, and we won't until it bites us in the ass. And maybe not even then because Canadians can be extremely slow learners if the lesson is one they do not like.

But... but...but... We`re Canadians, so we have absolutely nothing to fear from terrorists. They`ll never hit here, because it`s too cold. Shivering and shaking that much makes it impossible to properly use a detonator.

Damn. I had to give up my shampoo because it was too big. I guess they were afraid I would go on a hair washing spree.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
Frankly I'm surprised we're allowed to bring on laptops and phones still.

Soon we're going to be expected to fast for 24 hours before our flight,
else incur a fine for making things difficult for the gloved men

I`ve flown through LAX and the most I`ve had to do is take off my shoes and belt.....when was the last time you flied that you had to worry about KY jelly??

A new wrinkle. 8O

$1:
A Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) guard who seized a pipe bomb from a man at Edmonton International Airport tried to give it back to him, CBC News has learned.

Skylar Vincent Murphy, 18, of Spruce Grove, Alta., was allowed to get on a flight at Edmonton International Airport on Sept. 20 after he was caught with a pipe bomb by security.

According to details that came out in court, the CATSA guard was caught on video pushing the device back to Murphy. Reportedly, Murphy was told “You can keep it.”

it's Edmonton what do you expect.

Every time I go through security they always want to dust my 17in laptop for explosives.

Guess dusting a pipe bomb wouldn't turn up anything.

The EIA tends to hire immigrant security screeners with minimal training and a language barrier so this isn't a shock.

So, I was all ready to give this kid the benefit of the doubt. It seemed to be CATSA's screw up more than his. He didn't check the camera bag before leaving, the RCMP and CATSA both agreed he had no ill intent which is why they wee going to let him leave with the bomb. To the kid's credit, he thought better of Mexican Prison if he were caught with it.

The sentencing Judge even ripped him a new one, saying he'd be speaking Spanish right now, if he survived. And she didn't think he would have. So she gave him a year probation and a $100 victim surcharge, and made him take a tour of a burn unit and donate $500 to the unit.

So I'm driving home, and it turns out the kid was willing to give the radio news an exclusive interview, but only if they paid him $600! Not as profit, but to cover the fines. 8O They said they don't pay for interviews, and he wasn't interested in being interviewed for free.

What a douche-bag!

If the terrorists goal was to put us in such a panic we would start acting like morons in at least one regard of our lives they most certainly got their wish.

I just wish people would wake up and start realizing that airport security is getting more then a little silly.

The EIA is apparently creeping security screeners social media accounts to make sure they don't say anything about what happened. 8O

I'd like to know how this thing was constructed, I doubt it was a 1/4 inch steel pipe and was probably somewhat small or made of flimsy material. Which might be why the airport security didn't take it seriously. Still an incredibly stupid reaction to something that could easily maim you, but no one said these dinks have to have a high IQ.
