Exceedingly dumb comment from an experienced politician who should have known better that this wouldn't fall under the radar. Leave the Ayn Rand pathologies south of the border please, you jerks.

$1:
"I made an insensitive comment that I deeply regret," read the statement posted Monday on Moore's website. "I know the cause of fighting poverty is not helped by comments like those I made last week. For that, I am sorry."

Right. So what have you done to feed someone else's child?

R=UP +5

I wish I could donate more often to the local food bank, but I do what I can.

It sure felt really good dropping off that bag this weekend when I took the family to Candy Cane Lane.

How is it this year? It's been a while since I went, but it seemed to be going downhill with a lot less houses really done up. Worth taking the kids?

I think it was pretty good, most houses are decorated and a couple went above and beyond and made their own spectacular decorations.

If the weather is nice (it might have been except for the freezing rain Saturday night), it's a nice stroll. Bring a Thermos with hot chocolate for the kids (and one for you and the missus with Irish Cream or something).

I always liked Maisie's Magical Christmas House better, but now that the City shut it down, Candy Cane Lane is the next best thing.

It is sad to see Maisie's disappear, but I can certainly understand some of the city's concerns. It does get rather dangerous on that road when so many people are slowing down.

That said, the bureaucracy really does seem to lack much in the way of humanity sometimes. I wonder how long till they start ticketing people who are parked on the side of 97th for picture taking in the fall.

Also, just to be on topic for once, I get what Moore was trying to say and I'm not offended by it, but I am rather surprised to see an experienced politician phrase something so badly.

Which has me thinking that he meant it more the way it sounded, and it just slipped past his sensor. All he had to say was that it was a provincial responsibility to do so, maybe point out where the feds actually do contribute (assuming they do). But, he spoke what's really on his mind - Randian bullshit as Thanos has it. What kills me is that these people can't see that the unfed don't have the decency to die and quit causing trouble, it's cheaper to give them a crust of bread and such, but God bless the child that has his own.

At one point the federal government pledged to end Child Poverty in Canada, this is quite a departure from those days.

Thanos Thanos:
Fuckin lousy Soviet bastards.

You think that "every man for himself" is a good place to be? This is one of the very richest coutries that has ever existed snd to allow child poverty to exist at all is a measure of our collective ineptitude.

There is no excuse for a minister of the Crown to utter such grubbing, grasping stupididty. This man has no class. This is, unfortunately, what the "Reform" part of the Conservative movement looks like .. guilesss loudmoth assholes. Fire him, Steven.

Yahoo.
