Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
And while we are all appalled at this travesty of justice it's necessary to point out that this isn't all that abnormal and as Mrs. FOG pointed out this ruling may be how the judge fought back after being told, coerced, forced into letting the little shit escape prison where he would have been told, forced or coerced into becoming a Mrs. Little Shit for a much larger and less privileged member of genteel Texas Society.

$1:
Scott Brown, the boy's lead defence attorney, said he could have been freed after two years if he had drawn the 20-year sentence.

But instead, the judge "fashioned a sentence that could have him under the thumb of the justice system for the next 10 years," he told the Star-Telegram

Now the trick will be to make sure the little shit spends that next 10 years suffering in some way shape or form for his wanton lack of respect for human life and the law.

Although I prefer treatment, it should come AFTER punishment.

4 people are dead. 10 years probation and a year in a spa... Lovely.

But Brenda it's a 450,000 a year spa that mommy and daddy have to pay for. The poor little ones trust fund is going to be all dried up by the time he gets out with his lovely new tan.

Lock the bugger up and let him rot for 10 yrs like any one else charged with the same crime.

That 10 year "probation" should include a 10 year driving ban too. At minimum.

Asshole.

Great, now we have people getting out of taking responsibility for their actions because they were born with a silver spoon up their ass in their mouth and it even has its own term for it. Affluenza... f*cking ridiculous. Now we'll see this sorry ass excuse being used again. Bet on it.

Absolutely. And it's bullshit to say he would get out of prison after a couple of years and that's the end of it. Maybe, but he'd be on parole until the end of his sentence.

In Vancouver we had a judge let a HA off, because, he said, "this man would not be stupid enough to keep cocaine in his own locker." So now, of you have drugs in your possession, you're obviosly not guilty because you wouldn't be stupid enough to do so. Wonder what sort of inducement that judge got.

Getting away with murder.

Nope. The little shit angered some of the wrong people. His days are numbered and if I were that judge I'd find a new career. Like something involving a hardened bunker.

What a nice little psychopath the parents have created; he'll make a fine CEO some day.

Back in September, Ethan Couch, a 16-year-old from Burleson, Texas; caused a grisly accident that killed four people and injured 10 others. He had a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit. And yet, he got 10 years probation rather than the 20 years in prison that prosecutors were seeking, along with a berth in a posh treatment facility that costs $450,000--a bill that his family will pay.

Why?

Psychologist G. Dick Miller, who was hired as an expert by Couch's defense team, convinced a judge that Couch lived a life of privilege in which he was never instilled with a sense of right and wrong--something that merited treatment, not jail time.

Last night, Miller had a long chat with Anderson Cooper to explain his reasoning. Watch part 1 here, part 2 here and part 3 here. Miller actually said with a straight face that this sentence is justice, since Couch will be a ward of the state for 10 years and will get a one-way ticket to prison if he steps out of line. He argued that Miller had a better chance of turning things around if he didn't go to prison.

When Cooper pointed out that not everyone can afford that kind of treatment, Miller actually said that he wasn't interested in punishment, but serving his "best interests" by taking away things important to him. Cooper then reminded Miller that the same judge who sentenced Couch sent a less-privileged kid to juvenile hall for 10 years--and yet, still insisted with a straight face that there wasn't a separate system for the well-off.

There's actually a chance for some measure of justice here. Couch, his father and his family's sheet metal business, Cleburne Metal Works, are facing a whopping five civil lawsuits for his role in this horror. The family business is named as a defendant because it owns the truck involved in the crash. One of the lawsuits was filed on behalf of Sergio Molina, a passenger in the truck who was thrown from the bed and is now paralyzed with severe brain damage.

That lawsuit alone seeks $20 million in damages. No word on what the dollar amounts are in the other suits, but hopefully they're enough to drive this company out of existence.

Since daddy is ordered to pay for his 'rehab', they hold the parents liable. As they should, since the kid is a minor. So, all 14 people or their loved ones who were involved, should sue daddy.

$1:
There’s now a warrant for the arrest of Ethan Couch.

Couch is the teen who got probation after killing four people in a drunk driving crash two years ago.

CBS11 has confirmed his probation officer went to check on Couch and could not find him.

Couch had missed an appointment with Tarrant County Juvenile Probation officers.

2 years, not bad.

I'll bet the family went on 'holiday', and 'forgot' to tell Probation. :D

Good find. [B-o]

To bad this latest setback from his incurable afluenza likely won't result in anymore punishment than he's already been forced to suffer through.

Poor thing.

If he can get off killing four people, how hard do you think it's going to be to beat a parole violation rap.
