Still no confirmation on the shooter as TSA employee. Half of the news outlets say yes half the others say not so fast.

I bet that he is. How else would he have gotten there with a rifle?

.

The shooting never stated in the "secure" area of the airport. He just walked in the front door with it like anyone could have. He shot his way through the security checkpoint, which of course is manned by unarmed screeners.

$1:
He shot one guy downtairs," he told KTLA 5, adding that the gunman then went up some escalators and towards a security area. "He fired several shots when he went through the security check," he said, adding: "He just went straight through the security check."

Unsound Unsound:
I think he's probably a Canadian Senate Page. Outraged by all the negative attention the senate is getting he did this to distract from it.

Never doubt the effect of a Senate Page.

Lemmy Lemmy:
That would make LA the ideal spot for a rightwing nut-bag to pull a shooting, wouldn't it? Increases the likelihood that any victims will be dirty leftists.

Hmm. That's a fine suggestion....uhm....point.

When I went to Egypt, there was security outside the airport you had to go thru just to get into the building, and then another layer at the gates.

Still watching KTLA, what a fucking mess.

Roads closed, other terminals closed, people can't get on flights, and can't get out of the airport, no one can get in to pick them up.
Just chaos, people being herded like cattle.

You can imagine the TSA will go a little more overboard now, just in time for
Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Full body cavity searches at LAX?

They'd better get all of their shots.

Same in Israel. 2 security checks just to get to the ticket counter, one driving into the airport.

I know. I watch KTLA when I'm in LA and it can be pretty bad.

It was like that in Glasgow for quite a while after those shitheads drove their Jeep packed full of propane into the terminal back in 2007. I haven't been over in a couple of years so I'm not sure if they've scaled things back or not.

They probably have. Don't want to offend the jihadis after all.

I guess it's another one of them anti-govt lieberals:

NBC News reporter Pete Williams identified the suspect in Friday’s LAX shooting as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia who, according to authorities, had literature on him that suggests “strong anti-government views.”

While I'm sure it'll be interesting to sort out what his particular derangement was, it doesn't mean much in the long run. there are psychos on every part of the political spectrum and when and how the eventually snap says more about them than it does about any other sane people who's beliefs bear a superficial resemblance.
