Unsound Unsound:
I wonder how these kind of agreements can stand up in court. As minors the kids shouldn't be legally able to sign a binding agreement, I would think. Especially one that curtails their activities in in such a way so far outside the schools jurisdiction. I'm pretty sure that, much as I might like to at times, there's no way I could have guys who work for me sign such an agreement. And even if they did I'm pretty sure it wuld never stand up to a serious challenge.
The parents have to sign as well. When my daughter was a cheerleader, the child and the parents/ legal guardian had to attend meetings. The zero tolerance policies, as well as attendance, grades, etc., etc., are explained. The child and parent have to sign on. I as a libertarian naturally made a scene. My daughter swore she would disown me and run away from home, if I embarrassed her in public any further. I relented and signed on. You don't want to be the only one publicly bitching about something after 9/11. There was an incident where some of the cheerleaders were at a party where there was alcohol present. Someone took a picture, and posted it on facebook. My daughter said that the mother of one of the cheerleaders who barely missed the cut, brought the pic to the attention of the school administration. People seen holding alcohol were cut from the team (allowing the daughter of the alleged snitch to get on the team), people present but not possessing alcohol, were suspended for several weeks. Zero tolerance and social media, have teamed up to be a deadly combo.
