Why is it people keep coming up with this kind of bullcrap when they discuss "Global" warming? Too many people here keep trying to debunk the whole Global warming issue with examples of "Regional" weather conditions. The weather over the whole Arctic this year may be cooler than it has been in a number of years, but there is no way this should in any way be associated with Global warming as the whole Arctic is just a very small percentage of the Earth's total area. IIRC I think this is one of Bart's favorite ways of trying to disprove Global warming, pick an example of colder than normal local or regional weather conditions then try using them to disprove the issue of Global warming.

By "you people", I assume you're also referring to yourself. You have posted many links to press releases making similar arguments. The most apt example of that would be your last one.

Now in that one we learn of a study concerning a theory of complex interaction of phenomena offered up as cause for the recent cooling to non-warming we've been experiencing over the last 16 years or so. None of what he thinks he's discovered is unfamiliar to the skeptic who has been begging the warmers to consider such things as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation's affect on the warming spike of the last twenty year of the last millennium since the appearance of Al Gore, but here's the relevant thing as concerns your complaint.

Your hero Seth Borenstein who supplies many of your science by press release articles offers up these temporary climate phenomena as proof to the pudding contradictions to the cooling, or warming plateau.

Arctic sea ice also dropped to its lowest recorded level in 2012. All these are indications that the climate is continuing to warm, but the global average temperature has remained below the figure for 1998.

If you check the other article - the one you are criticizing - there is a graphic showing the sudden increase in ice this year is just as large as the sudden decrease last year which was used by the Seth Borensteins of warmist media to show "the ice iz ameltin, and we iz all gonna burn."
