Some of them just may well be, but I think the majority are in the 20-30' wood or fibreglass construction.....

Yep, I am. Me and some buddies make the trip once a year at least. Launch at castlegar, set up camp somewhere and fish for a weekend.

Maybe up on the Kootenay or Arrow lakes, but definitely not on the Columbia.

The portages are brutal.

Buddies 17.5' made in Canada, Princecraft.

Works good, but the locals are bombing around on 20'+ jet boats. Looks like those work better!

But I think you're right, sounds like big commercial vessels, not the sport fishing units.
