WTF. 8O

I think Chelsea is gonna be pretty disappointed to find out that he or she's going to the stockade and not some healthcare clinic that specializes in gender reassignment therapy.

Maybe he should have thought about experiencing this life changing decision before he gave those classified documents to Mr. Assange the reclusive alleged rapist.

If this is indeed fact and he really expects the Gov't to change their policies and give him free medical treatment for his sex change while he's incarcerated it makes a person wonder why his attorney's didn't use insanity as his primary defence?

He/she is a strange little twerp. Do you ever wonder why and how he ever got security clearance in the first place? Obviously, they have to tighten that process up a lot.

"Manning has had gender identity disorder since childhood and released a statement the day after her sentencing identifying as female, taking the name Chelsea Manning and expressing a desire to undergo hormone replacement therapy.[14]"

Brenda on the link you posted this is the final sentence. I've not followed this part closely so forgive my ignorance on the subject. Is there any proof that he had known gender issues? I'm thinking along the lines of some sort of physiatrist help in the past, school counselor’s things like that. Basically I’m asking if this is a documented thing or is this something that he has recently started saying.

I have no idea. You would think that if the military had known about it, it would have been in reports. They might have been supportive, and they may have used his mental state to not send him to Iraq.

My point was that when you google Bradley Manning, Wiki already has changed his gender.

It strikes me as odd. I mean, Hasan (the Fort Hood shooter) hasn't been declared dead on Wiki just because he wants to, right?

Military prisons are higly structured institutions. They aren't dens of chaos, gang activity, and violent rape the way civilian prisons are. If anything drives Manning crazy it'll be the claustrophobic level of discipline and order he's going to be subject to for the next three decades. Manning's biggest problem with the other inmates might be the isolation from them if they shun him as a traitor.

And the US isn't Europe. I doubt any of this sex change nonsense, or any of his civilian lawyer's games with appeals or claims if institutionsliazed abuse, ends up going anywhere on the US military's dime.

I'm pretty sure I read yesterday that army won't be giving her her hormone therapy while in prison.

Sorry, but your political correctness seems to have degraded your language center. Klinger is still a dude.

The Associated Press Stylebook provides guidelines for journalists reporting on transgender people and issues. According to the AP Stylebook, reporters should "use the pronoun preferred by the individuals who have acquired the physical characteristics of the opposite sex or present themselves in a way that does not correspond with their sex at birth. If that preference is not expressed, use the pronoun consistent with the way the individuals live publicly" (see AP, New York Times & Washington Post Style).

Ya think. ROTFL

But before we get to sanctimonious we just have to look at SLT Jeffrey Delisle and ask the same questions. But at least with him we have a practical motive, money. :D

Not really. "It" dehumanizes the person described as such. Whatever your opinion on transgender people(or whatever they're called now), taking away their humanity is a large first step in a bad direction.

I don't give a rat's ass if I piss off the PC types....in fact knowing I've offended them is one of life's little pleasures. You don't have a right not to be offended.

No one has any shame anymore, and we're supposed to celebrate it.

Nooooo doubt. When I was still a teenager, having done time meant you were a stupid loser. Now it's a friggin' badge of honour or something.

Merle Haggard was about the last artist/celebrity that I can recall who seemed to have any sort of genuine shame about anything wrong he did. Gather all the rest of them in Vegas for some kind of vapid flies-to-shit sort of convention then drop a nuke on them. The world's morals would be cleaned up by about 1000% in one shot.
