The Indians are at least way ahead of China in carrier ops. They're not a joke, not in the least.
I'd say that's a good thing...the longer it takes China to get a proper blue ocean fleet the better. India doesn't pose nearly the threat potential as China does.
About 15-20 years ago the Indians were muttering about having 'rights' in Australia and that contributed to the Aussies beefing up their submarine forces. Now with all eyes focused on China it's easy to forget that the other players in that region tend not to play nice.
It's certainly not a simple situation, but we need to be careful that we're not seeing people as 'best friends' when the simple fact is that our interests have temporarily aligned.
