I try to 'forgive but not forget' with Japan, but ... I just get 'comfortable' with them ...then summer arrives and so do Japanese whaling ships!

The Catholics/Republicans could always just slip over the border and live in Dublin ruled Ireland, where they'd obviously be much happier.

Bullshit. All your posts take a distinct anti-Japan slant when you are discussing them, thats hardly the hallmark or someone who takes a "forgive and forget" approach.

And as for Ireland and Ulster, there is a saying in the north "the six into the twenty-six will never go" meaning if the Loyalists get thier way, Ulster will forever be apart of the UK. The Catholics want the reunification of Ireland and moving to the republic defeats the purpose.

"Forgive but not forget" is what I'm supposed to be doing...according to the 'we must build bridges and move on" brigade [most people online these days].
I do try not to immensely dislike Japan, but it's not long before they do something that turns me against them again.

I'm torn on the Irsh issue. I do think that they should be a united country without dominance/interference from Great Brittian. Yet the violence by both sides tells me that neither side is truly ready for unity.

They're still killing my whales, treating 'me' with contempt, demanding a stone memorial in American to women sex-slaves be removed, and their war veteran was on tv mocking my nation's elderly women for having 'moustaches', demonstrating with his finger.

I do try, but it never lasts very long, too many offences do they still commit.

This? [I'm no real expert]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flags_used_in_Northern_Ireland

The Ulster Banner is the flag of the former Government of Northern Ireland. It is used by the unionist community but no longer has any official status,[1] although several sporting organisations such as FIFA,[2] the Commonwealth Games Federation[3] and the PGA Tour[4] and media organisations such as ESPN[5] currently use the flag to represent teams and athletes from Northern Ireland.

Could be that the loyalists have adopted it as a battle standard.

The IRA are making too much money these days off of "protection" services and selling heroin to bother starting up The Troubles again. In the absence of any British military occupation they have no formal reason to go active again anyway. Until they start blowing up nightclubs again in Britain there's no reason to assume the murderous bad times are going to be making a return anytime soon.

Sporting Organizations. ROTFL ROTFL

That's pretty much like saying the Hell's Angels are just a social club. Some people on both sides of the equation in Northern Ireland just can't seem to get over the fact that they either missed the troubles or weren't in charge for the last round and are hell bent on correcting what they see as a personal slight. :x

Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands and Palestine are three of the areas in the world where it is almost impossible for peace as both sides in all these cases want total victory rather than an agreement.

Total victory is really something the Protestant folks are into. And, as I am learning this year, a bunch of these wankers are my relatives.

In any case, the North needs to reunite with Ireland and the Protestants need to get used to living without an effective form of apartheid to keep them in power.

The Brits, meanwhile, need to let go of the shipyards in Belfast and just move their operations to Liverpool or Portsmouth. Belfast's shipyards being the main reason the UK never wanted to let go of the North.

Why should the Protestants put themselves under the power of a republican government that's essentially a subsidiary of the Roman Catholic Church? If your locality gets swamped with Muslims are you going to willingly submit to sharia just because you're in the minority? :?

If N.I. wants out let them have a referendum with a clear question with a clear majority required for any change in status (not 50% +1).

50% + 1 is a clear majority.

What you want to require is a super majority of, say 55% to 67% (2/3).
