Brenda Brenda: You don't want me to dig up how many people were killed just today by car accidents, drug overdoses, shootings, other people's stupidity or lay-around guns, right? Or even domestic accidents, moms with PPD or PPS or just a simple crime-passionnel? If you did, I'd still be desiring that all the snakes in the world were killed. Nth America will be sorry it fooled around with African Rock Pythons and Burmese Pythons etc. These two boys are dead, killed by a snake, not rats and mice.

And there is an amber alert out for 2 kids from San Diego, 8 and 16, whose mother and another child were found killed and the kidnapper may be heading to BC. How about that?

Anyho, I am watching the news about this right now, and what they say, is that the snake (15 ft. Not THAT big) escaped the cage, went into a ventilation shaft, into the roof, and fell through the ceiling.
A falling snake killing 2 kids? It seems...

The snake creeps into the kids' bedroom and kills both of them? Seriously? Maybe it's the statistician in me but I call "BULLSHIT".

A falling snake killing 2 kids? It seems... 15ft is big enough, given the weight of those snakes. Now, we have to deal with killer snakes, and kidnappers. If there were no snakes, we'd only have to deal with kidnappers...half of our troubles would be over.

Lemmy Lemmy: The snake creeps into the kids' bedroom and kills both of them? Seriously? Maybe it's the statistician in me but I call "BULLSHIT". A snake like that could easily kill two small children by wrapping itself around them both at once. A snake like this escaped from a box in a home in America and killed a boy who was staying over. Measure out 15ft...it's a fairly long way. http://www.montrealgazette.com/technology/African+rock+pythons+killing+humans+like+getting+struck/8755267/story.html Snake believed to have killed boys may have been lured by their scent: expert
The African rock python that escaped its enclosure and is believed to have killed two New Brunswick boys may have been lured by the scent of the children because they were playing with farm animals hours earlier and may have smelled like prey, one reptile expert said Tuesday.
The founder and co-owner of Little Ray's Reptile Zoo in Ottawa said snakes such as the one that police believe killed Noah and Connor Barthe don't visually recognize their prey, so if the boys smelled like the animals they were playing with, it could serve as an explanation for the attack.
"If a snake sees an animal moving, giving off heat and smells like a goat, what is it? It's a goat," said Paul (Little Ray) Goulet.

Your logic makes no sense...

I know I'm stepping on a landmine here, but just because the always accurate and deeply detailed media didn't say snakes creep up and kill their prey - how did you think snakes kill their prey? Chase them down and corner them like wolves do? I'm of the opinion that snakes are not pets. They are too stupid to be trained, and their instincts are to kill. Anything. Anytime. Anywhere. The best place for a snake is over a spit roast.

How does what I think come into play here? $1: I'm of the opinion that snakes are not pets. They are too stupid to be trained, and their instincts are to kill. Anything. Anytime. Anywhere. The best place for a snake is over a spit roast. That goes for any animal. Lets start with frying the people who put them in a cage first, k?

Out in the wild, where the species originates. it's fair game for the snake.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: Yup, I knew better, but I just had to ask. It's just such a strange story. The only thing that has made sense to me is a pet shop owner who speculated they may have been playing with animals, they may have smelled like prey, and snakes will get out of their cages if there is a little tiny chance. What I have a bit of an issue with, is that we should love bears and not move into their territory or accept the consequences, but when it comes to snakes, THEY are the culprit. Like I said before, people are far more dangerous to people yet we leave them wander. We let them breed snakes and be surprised when they act like the animals they are. Does not make it any less of a horrible situation for these boys' loved ones...
