BartSimpson BartSimpson: Sorry. The ship sailed on this when the Democrats demanded and then received George W. Bush's college transcripts.
Only to find out that Bush's grades were far better than Al "Fratboy" Gore's. Bush should have told those people to fuck their hats too. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Anyone ever see HBO's "Conspiracy" film about the Wannsee Conference? Stanley Tucci as Adolph Eichmann, towards the end of the film, mused about where they could focus their hatred after the Jews were all gone. Would they lose their way and their reason for being with the great enemy finally destroyed?
I wonder this about the GOP. What will they do in 2016 when President Obama's term is finished? If Hillary Clinton wins will they be able to rally the cause against her as intensely as they did against Barack Obama? What will they do if the energy of hatred is finally spent and the acolytes and followers start to drift away? With the great enemy, the Evil One, no longer there (and with memories still fresh of the 2000 to 2006 disaster, when the GOP controlled everything) can they reasonably believe that the American voter will be willing to give unlimited power to a GOP that is demonstrably more crazy, more enraged, and more committed to destroying American federalism than they were during the Bush Era?
These questions are important because one needs to know what will happen if power is again concentrated among those who have nothing to offer except bitterness and hate.

I imagine the GOP will do what the Democrats did after their unifying-enemy, George W. Bush, was about to leave. Have an extremely dirty, divisive primary campaign, try and fail to weld the party back together, and run an extremely ineffective administration.

Which is probably the point of the entire exercise right there. Run the government so poorly that it's permanently discredited. The private sector and the free market are lionized, even though it's factually and anecdotally provable that it's about a million times more poorly operated that the govt ever could be. But actual facts have never really mattered and the guys who end up winning were always going to win anyway. Life becomes harder and harsher for the majority, but it's not like what happens to them is ever a concern to the smartest guys in the room.

Thanos, if the Republicans lionized the free market, they would be working in that free market. Professional politicians tend to lionize power.

It doesn't matter who's in office. If its a democrat, they're without question illegitimate and a fifth column foreign infiltrator. The right wing has spen the last three decades deligitimizing any democratic office holder as a threat to America. This is now GOP SOP.

No Democrat is going to win in 2016 absent the Republicans totally ass-monkeying the nomination and the campaign (which I will not rule out). Absent acts of God and of assassins there hasn't been a consecutive Democrat Presidency since James Buchanan took over for Franklin Pierce. Given Obama's flaccid popularity, especially amongst minorities, his negatives will no doubt adversely impact whoever the Democrat is who runs in 2016. Benghazi will be hung like an albatross about the neck of Hillary Clinton should she decide to run and if she gets called before Congress (Edit) WITHOUT the protection of Executive Privilege she may find herself jailed for contempt and that tends to hurt a campaign. Aside from Hillary the Democrats don't have that many shining stars to draw upon and those that have any sense will know that trying to succeed the Eavesdropper-In-Chief will be an uphill battle at best. 2016 is a pretty safe bet for the GOP.

Bart, you forgot Obama's stupid POS useless AG who love's messing with Texas. Rumor has it the 5th bench is going to hand him a death card making him a Lame Quack Quack AG. Darn Democrats hate it that Texas found massive Democrat Voter Fraud scheme's linked to Obama 2008 and 2012. AG and SCOTUS agreed with Texas and other state's plus Wisconsin caught Labor union voter Fraud linked to the Democrats and underage voter's around Milwaukee. Democrats are the true tyrants of the US, they violate anyone's Civil right for there gain, they are the Salve Master's and wannabe Royals of the US. Republican's have a few bad one's Ie Sen. McQuack from AZ being the biggest. Death to the Democrats 2016 may there party rot in H#ll forever.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy: ROTFL It would appear Barry is heading for some pretty lofty territory. Gone are the halcyon days of everybody loves Barry. Agree disagree or just don't give a shit, at least you've got to admit the photo is priceless. Looks alot like Trickey Dickey before he gave his "I'm Not a Crook" speech. Would his actions have gotten him in trouble today? Likely just a headline, a week's worth of discussion and grousing and then on to other news. How many remember it was Geraldo Rivera who broke the Watergate story. Did he have pants on when he did it. But you're right, we've become inured to such antics. You've got guys like Anthony Weiner and half the republican caucus that has some scandal in their resumes and yet they're still in office, running for or just hanging around annoying us. What a clusterfuck. Where did our morals and expectations of politicians disappear to?

Bart meant to say that as a private citizen, Hillary Clinton has no power to avoid a congressional subpoena should the House GOP look again into Benghazi. This will almost certainly happen if they retain the House in 2014 and Hillary declares her candidacy; both virtual certainties.
Also, aside from Hillary, there are no current national-level Democratic superstars. Joe Biden certainly won't win; he was crushed in the 2008 primary. The democrat's best bet is to elevate a relatively unknown politician into the candidacy, just like they did with Obama in 2008.

Holder's persistence with going after Texas may earn him a contempt citation from the US Supreme Court. I have to say that it would be delicious to see US Marshals arrest Holder and escort him to a cell to await a Supreme Court contempt hearing.
