ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
leave them out so they reach room temperature.....

I think I get that one. English drink warm beer, right? Is it because they like it that way, or don't the watermelon, enviro-wackos of the Soviet Socialist Euro-Union let them have refrigeration any more?

They should retitle this story as this: "British correctional officers show restraint while having terrorist scum in their custody".

There is an old joke, anyone who rides motorcycles will understand it.

Why do the English drink warm beer ?

Because Lucas also makes refrigerators.

( Lucas is the company that made electrics for most / all British motorcycles
before they all went under. The electrics are, of course, notoriously the worst
things about British bikes. )

Remember that British Mars probe (Beagle 2) that went dead when it landed in 2003? If you zoom in really closely at a photo of the side, you can just make out the plaque that says: "Electrical Systems by Lucas"

Lucas ... a.k.a. "The Prince of Darkness"

As a former owner of a Triumph TR-7, I can safely say the same applies ot British cars.

On the upside of the TR-7 the fact that it often failed to start made it remarkably safer than the Reliant Robin when that car was running perfectly.
