Re-read twice. Couldn't find any racist diatribes. Benn came closest, but he's really telling the truth about how our tax money goes to support a broken system.

Calling FN people "goddam mooches" isn't racist now?

And just because the social commentary you describe isnt off-base in its own context (although at only 3% of the budget one could question whether the outrage is in proportion), again notice how the entire tone of the conversation is about denigrating an entire race because of the politics of their leaders. Its not proposed that it be renamed "FN Band Chief Day" but yet thats where everyone wants take the discussion.

How is this different than ranting about Black crime and welfare rates as an argument against observing Black History month?

In all honesty I missed the "goddam mooches" comment. Probably should've reread 3 times.

That said, ho much of it is actually racism? I don't hate natives as a race. I hate the entitlement culture that far too many of them are mired in. I hate the alcohol and drug problems that hurt them and everyone around them. I don't see that as racist. Too many people think that pointing out that those are real issues is racist, even as they cry for more money to address those very issues.

More than just the money spent on the reserves(I'm assuming that's the 3% you mention?)there's also the money and inconvenience of the various blockades, protests, court cases, etc The constant attempts to make the rest of us feel guilty over crimes e didn't commit. The "native fact" is already in our faces all the time, and always negative. Is it any wonder that people don't want yet another exercise in pointless political correctness? And that people can get heated at the idea?

I think I can safely say that the most "racist" person here would be overjoyed if someone came forward tomorrow with a wonderful new idea to solve all the problems in the native communities. I'm sure every single one of us would love to see the natives join the larger Canadian society in a healthy productive way. I'm also sure that the vast majority of us ordinary hard-working tax-paying citizens are fed up with being called racist and being made to feel like criminals because we're, justifiably, upset or angry about the vast amounts of money poured into a bogus failure of a system that's helped no one apart from the corrupt dictatorlike leaders of the guilt industry.

If you, or they, want people to stop repeating hateful stereotypes about natives, they need to stop acting like the stereotypes. If they want people to stop getting angry about asted money, they need to stop wasting money.

Fact is, the angry "racists" you decry are probably the best friends the natives could have. They'll demand concrete results for their money, rather than being satisfied with feel good platitudes. They'll insist on natives having to live up to the same standards of behaviour that the rest of us do, which is the only way to stop the cycle of substance abuse and lawlessness that we see too much of in their communities.

Well, it's misguided, and though I won't speak for Benn, I would submit that it's more a commentary on the culture of both entitlement and victimhood that appears to pervade many of the reserves. As for the degenerating an entire race (or group)because of the politics of their leaders, can I assume this means you will no longer have anything bad to say about Conservatives writ large because of the actions of the CPC?

With regards to the idea of renaming Victoria Day all I can say is WTF are these people smoking. As for the issues pertaining to the FN, I am FN and can see the BS that has happened on both sides quite clearly and can only be thankful that my family had separated themselves from the reserve way of life a couple of generations ago. As for being of FN descent I have always been and will always be first and foremost a Canadian, and those who desire to change Victoria Day can go pound salt.
