In all honesty I missed the "goddam mooches" comment. Probably should've reread 3 times.
That said, ho much of it is actually racism? I don't hate natives as a race. I hate the entitlement culture that far too many of them are mired in. I hate the alcohol and drug problems that hurt them and everyone around them. I don't see that as racist. Too many people think that pointing out that those are real issues is racist, even as they cry for more money to address those very issues.
More than just the money spent on the reserves(I'm assuming that's the 3% you mention?)there's also the money and inconvenience of the various blockades, protests, court cases, etc The constant attempts to make the rest of us feel guilty over crimes e didn't commit. The "native fact" is already in our faces all the time, and always negative. Is it any wonder that people don't want yet another exercise in pointless political correctness? And that people can get heated at the idea?
I think I can safely say that the most "racist" person here would be overjoyed if someone came forward tomorrow with a wonderful new idea to solve all the problems in the native communities. I'm sure every single one of us would love to see the natives join the larger Canadian society in a healthy productive way. I'm also sure that the vast majority of us ordinary hard-working tax-paying citizens are fed up with being called racist and being made to feel like criminals because we're, justifiably, upset or angry about the vast amounts of money poured into a bogus failure of a system that's helped no one apart from the corrupt dictatorlike leaders of the guilt industry.
If you, or they, want people to stop repeating hateful stereotypes about natives, they need to stop acting like the stereotypes. If they want people to stop getting angry about asted money, they need to stop wasting money.
Fact is, the angry "racists" you decry are probably the best friends the natives could have. They'll demand concrete results for their money, rather than being satisfied with feel good platitudes. They'll insist on natives having to live up to the same standards of behaviour that the rest of us do, which is the only way to stop the cycle of substance abuse and lawlessness that we see too much of in their communities.
