Missed the bit about Kerry Fraser even calling it a bad call. If anything Diaz should sit for even attempting such a stupid pass.

Since when was Kerry Fraser an expert on anything except how to fuck up a game? I spent a lot of years on the ice wearing the stripes. That's a 5-minute interference penalty in any game...except, perhaps, in the NHL where the rules are secondary and refs are more like WWE Wresting refs than real hockey officials.

Some glad you don't officiate at the NHL level, as games would routinely see hundreds of minutes in penalties and half the players with misconducts.

Yeah, no other team tries to hit opponents "skilled" guys.

I'm still trying to figure out whose fans are the biggest whiners and right now it's a toss up between Vancouver and Montreal.

Montreal's fans have always been whiny and Vancouver fans still can't get over the fact that Boston humiliated them on home ice in game seven of the finals.

No need to get all pissy about it.

I'm feeling quite good about the playoffs so far. (I know it's real early)

Vancouver, Montreal both down a game and Boston only needing 15 more wins to hoist the Cup again!

I haven't been following the east, but Boston looks like the same team that one the cup (minus Tim Thomas). Marchant and Lucic are play-off guys. Boston isn't looking bad in the East, though they'll have to get through Pittsburgh, likely.

In the west there's some teams that are big and talented--LA, San Jose, St Louis, Chicago. So I'm picking the west. Can't see Vancouver in it though.

I'd like to see St Louis do it this year actually. I think they joined teh same year as teh Canucks and they'll never even been to the big show, never mind hoisting a cup.

Vancouver fans--well it's hard to stick up for them (us) after two frickin riots. Then again, I don't really feel the need to apologize for supporting the home town team either.

I keep saying it, those who rioted WERE NOT FANS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

Ference still should have got more than one game. You can't use the lame "other players do it too" excuse. Any dirty shot like that to the head or from behind should land ANY player in the suspension sin bin for a good long time.

How is it interference in any league?> Check the replay again, the puck clearly touches his stick before the hit.

Too many hits to the head Pen? I think you may be in the wrong thread. You maybe want to discuss the Gryba-Eller play?

Actually they made it to the finals in 1970 only to lose to Boston. 8)

Surely you've seen the Cup winning goal with Orr flying through the air.

Interference? Now it's interference when you tag a guy WITH the puck? It was a suicide pass. I'm also not liking this trend I'm seeing where a clean hit results in a major and a game because a player got drilled and smacked his head on the ice. My only question with the Gryba hit is where on the body the contact was initiated.
