I'd rather trust Anonymous than the local RCMP and provincial justice minister who apparently circled the wagons around the local golden boys and then went "nope, nothing to see here".

I'll admit to not having followed this story super closely but I haven't heard anything to indicate that that's what happened. Who's saying it is?

Kinsella's letter indicated otherwise, including the NS Justice Minister refusing to re-open the case yesterday but today flip-flopping under the media pressure. As a minimum this has the earmarks of another classic bungled RCMP investigation. At worst it could be Steubenville all over again, with local authorities deliberately stymieing an investigation and giving the police a bad time in order to protect some "fine young men" who merely sowed some wild oats with an unwilling "whore".

Like I indicated before, no mercy. I hope Anonymous figuratively nukes this town and all the cover-up schemers in it. If this is the way they behave when this sort of thing happens then they've all done more than enough to deserve it.

We had the case in Port Moody of a girl getting gangbanged with pics taken. Nobody charged except a kid who posted the pic, but he wasn't even there. Hard to sort out what happened, the girl maintains she was drugged and raped, others say she was willing. Who knows what the truth is, but this sort of thing is made so much worse by phone cams and social media - kids do something they regret and can never get away from it. Teenagers, drugs (including alcohol), and the electronic age - not a good combination.

This sort of thing never seems to happen with pot by the way.

And I hope saner heads than Thonos prevail here. You seem to be the only one around that's certain of what happened here. Just as we don't want a coverup, we also don't want an electronic lynching of young guys that may be perfectly inncocent.

My niece is only a couple of years away from this age. I hope she's smart enough and learned enough to avoid this sort of situation, so that she never has to go through this agony. I also hope she never ends up at the mercy of a victim-bullying mob, where a bunch of clowns like Andy who think it's OK for a young girl to have a train pulled on her by some fine upstanding young men that are perfectly innocent. Woot woot! If it feels good, do it, boys! The party never stops, right Andy? :|

Well common sense has to prevail as well. There are situations where harm may occur - best avoid them.

Yet lately, not even staying home all day keeps from being bullied.

Is it difficult to be as obtuse of an ass as you are around here most of the time? Or does it just come to you naturally?

No true. I'm referring more to the mix of excessively hormonal teens, their moral wasteland, and a ton of booze.

I understand that.
Yet, one cannot not always avoid rape, you cannot expect teens not having raging hormones and we all drank.
Then, after being raped, moved cities and schools, still being bullied is not something you can avoid.

She removed herself from the situation. It was not enough.

This may qualify as blaming the victim, or it may be more properly imo called street-proofing your kids. In the perfect world that we'd all like to live in our daughters could go anywhere and do anything without worrying about this kind of stuff, but that's not the world we live in. i'll teach my daughter to avoid thiese situations cause i'd rather have her safe than worry about being "fair."

This is one of the most disgusting things you've ever said. Asking to know the whole story before lynching a bunch of young boys is the equivilant of cheering on rape?

Fuck you dude.

She removed herself from the situation after the fact. Irrespective of the bullying discussion, it's best to understand how the world works and know that this can and will occur. Don't put yourself in the situation in the first place.

Don't get me wrong here, though. The fact is, no matter how much hand wringing and social media outrage we show, these events will continue to occur. That is a fact and it will not change. We simply must accept that bullying will occur no matter what we say, and we have to acknowledge that it is a far different kind than what we endured.
